Here’s what nobody is saying about the “Russian Interference”. The United States interferes in every single election around the globe every single time. I’m not talking about hacking an election booth, but we meddle in every goddamn election around the globe. Why are we shocked when someone does it to us?

Granted, Russia is one of the worst offenders of “free elections”. Sure, you can run against Putin. And the people can vote for what’s left of your dead body.

But it should come as no surprise to anyone that countries out there want to get even with us. It’s just that it’s okay as long as my candidate wins. But when my candidate doesn’t win then suddenly I’m outraged.

The U.S. doesn’t just interfere, it backs revolutions in which millions have died in, it assassinates, and it sanctions people into starvation. (Iraq under Clinton lost 500k people due to sanctions) Nearly everything we do is for Corporate, Oil, Banker, or Israeli interests.

I lived in countries all over the world, some with a bit of freedom, some not so free. I am also mature enough to understand powerful nations have interests and following those interest can harm other folks.

But trying to argue the US or UK are the worse governments in the world and cause more harm then any other is unnuanced at best.

The only countries not guilty of some evil in its history are countries that don’t really have any power to effect much evil. Some of the great and powerful countries do bad things, and also do good things. Someone posted on here that we killed 500K of Iraqi’s with our sanctions. Of course the sanctions were put in place for a reason. Do you know what that is? Did we just decide to starve a bunch of Iraqi’s because we were bored??

But lets say you are right, for the sake of discussion. Do we get to balance this against any good we do. Even St. Peter uses a scale when you arrive at the pearly gates does he not. Should we do less as mere humans? So, how many people eat in Iraq because we developed wheat strains that can resist pests. Did that feed more than the 500K we supposedly killed when we had an embargo?

You see, that is a bit nuanced. Its easier just to say we killed these folks and killing folks is bad ergo we are bad. But of course everything in this regard is relative.

But perhaps you argue we need to adopt a more objective standard. We should live up to G*D’s standard. Oh wait, he got a bit peeved himself and killed all of mankind except for as few odd people.

It is often not safe for me to say too much as I live in one of the most totalitarian regimes in the world with the most extreme and invasive surveillance powers certainly of anywhere in the western world.

I offered one such example, this claim that Iraqi sanctions cost 500,000 lives. First, no one knows how many lives ended due to starvation cause by sanctions. Some NGO used that number and then a person who wants to make a point to support a position they already has uses it, to show how bad the US is. No mention of how many lives were saved by the US freely given away our scientific knowledge on advance wheat strains.

Now here is where it gets a bit nuanced. The oppressed Kurds did much better after the US got involved, and haven’t been gassed since. Not being gassed is kind of a big deal if you’re a Kurd. So, if you are a Kurd, maybe you have a bit of a different take on all it.
