Tom Leykis shares some wisdom about happiness:
This made me think about different life situations:
When I was a teenager, I had many happy days—at the expense of my working parents.
When someone wins the lottery, a million other losers provided the winning money.
When someone invests his money in a business (via stocks), thousands of workers are working hard, 40 hours a week, to make that business profitable. Those workers could have miserable, dead end jobs, and get paid minimum wage, but the investor is getting annual dividends from their efforts.
I’ve probably made a lot of people happy with the way I’ve spent my money in the past 40 years.
"I saw that there comes a point, in the defeat of any man of virtue, when his own consent is needed for evil to win-and that no manner of injury done to him by others can succeed if he chooses to withhold his consent. I saw that I could put an end to your outrages by pronouncing a single word in my mind. I pronounced it. The word was ‘No.’" (Atlas Shrugged)
There are three states of mind:
—Happiness
—Tranquillity
—Sadness
Happiness and sadness are very temporary states of mind. Example, you go out and buy a new house, for the first few weeks/months you may be happy. After this time has elapsed, your happiness levels drop and your mind goes on the prowl for the next emotional high. Tranquillity, on the other hand, is maintaining that balance/middle path in life. For me, living a MGTOW lifestyle has brought a lot of tranquillity to my life. It is a lot more stable.
A tranquil mind is neither happy nor sad, it is uninfluenced by external conditions.
I don’t know if I agree with all that – I work out – I’m happy – no one loses – I masturbate – F~~~ YEAH! Oh I’m happy – again ,no one loses – I have a coffee with the rising sun – I’m happy , I guess it boils down to what makes you happy.
Lifes a bitch, but you don't have to marry one!

I’m not sure but I think KM explained this one time, and like you said, Happiness and also sadness are not permanent, just like a person cannot be sad permanently, we cannot be happy forever, and although
it may sound good, it’s not the best path, when you are in balance with what surrounds you, and with yourself, that’s when it really matters,so to speak.
Anonymous6While much life is lived at the expense of others much is not.
While plants can encroach upon one another it is only when that environment is already saturated that this occurs.Obviously there is far more vegetative life than animal life.
Therefore life lived at the expense of others is an obvious minority.
That doesn’t even take into consideration the absolutely massive biomass of single celled organisms, the vast majority of which consume, (or more properly stated incorporate) inorganic material.Even among animals there are those that live without doing harm, some actually live in active service.
Scavengers do no harm, nectar and fruit eaters serve the lives that sustain them.People ignore such facts to excuse their abusive ways.

Sounds like you stumbled onto the core principle of Buddhism. The “middle path” is what you would call tranquility.
Women make horrible Buddhists, as much as they like to pretend. Women think happiness is not a temporary state of mind, but rather a permanent reality that floats around them like an aura. Whenever anything “not happy” happens to them, it’s always someone elses fault, because “they are always just supposed to be happy”.
I decided the price for my time is priceless..I spent the day at a cigar shop…a art festival and at a beer garden.. Alone and it was awesome… I love me some Me…. I cleared my plans and my day with Me…”Winning” T. Popp
Tom leykis is great and has some red pill flavored content, if only he applied these principles in his own life FIRST…
Aside that, happiness can be put undercontrol like all emotions it’s more a matter of lowering your expectations (or tricking yourself) to be happy.
I would say having low intermediate milestones or mini-goalsinstead of a frustrated long term goal. And having small goals by themselves too can surely help with a positive state of mind.
Like having a 6 packs or losing 20 pounds, being fluent in Spanish or Russian : Before getting there, it is quite a long way of dedication and mid terms goals : Maybe for some running around the block will be the first stage to get there, buying the book or downloading the mp3 lessons as well.
Happiness needs to shift accordingly to the growth and
I noticed that I have huge frustrations due to unfulfilled long term goals and not being able to reach them now or quicker.
The thing is to cut the beast in small pieces to be able to digest it. And to give you rewards along the way (related to what defines your own happiness)Knowing that you are already on the right path is leading to more and more happiness in your life.

I know my ex-wife and her deadbeat son certainly were happy spending my money for over 15 years while I worked like a slave.
Guys like Tom Leykis and Patrice O’Neil (rip) … Brilliant men.

Know when it is your duty to give them zero explanations for your actions.
