I was reading a post here on the forums that touched on the idea of a “pay gap” between what a man brings home compared to what a woman brings home financially. This reminded me of a blog post I wrote a while back which touched on this exact topic so I am going to leave that here.

    Enjoy:

    Is this a joke…?

I have a question for all of those who are fighting for “equal pay”…. which of the following careers makes more money: a Software Engineer or a 1st grade Teacher?

If you chose 1st grade Teacher, you are either a naive feminist, scared of telling the truth, or a complete moron..

How is it not common knowledge that an Engineer would make more than a Teacher? This is of course an extreme example but the same principle applies. On average, 80% of engineering degrees go to Males. To me, this says that Women are getting degrees in things like Teaching, Social Studies, and Women’s Studies. News flash ladies, THERE IS NO ECONOMIC VALUE IN THESE DEGREES.

The simple fact is, the world needs technology and is willing to pay for it. Ask anyone on the planet whether they would like an iPhone or therapy and I’m willing to bet the answers would be one sided. This is simple supply and demand.. The economy wants advancements in technology and as consumers, we pay top dollar for it. This, of course, equates out to Software Engineers getting paid more for their work.

Another thing that needs to be considered is the amount of specialized degrees being handed out. I for one, hear about women wanting to be Dental Assistants or Medical Assistants. It is rare that I ever hear a woman say “I want to be a Dentist” or “I want to be a Doctor.” Isn’t it obvious that a Doctor would make more than an assistant?

The fact is, women who pursue advanced degrees in engineering, the medical field, etc. on average actually make more than men in those same fields. Hate to break it to you ladies, but if your job isn’t as hard or physically demanding, your wage is going to suffer.

All of these points don’t even take into the fact that women work less hours than men. How many men take months off for Maternity Leave? How many men take time off due to sick kids? Once again, if these answers aren’t obvious to you, your mental state is concerning..

To sum it up ladies.. If you want to get paid equally, get an equally difficult job. Stop thinking that a 1st grade teacher should be paid the same as a soldier in Afghanistan who is putting his life in danger so you can play “tea party” with a bunch of 6 year olds.

    Nice!

A friend of mine is an ironworker. He descends into nuclear power plants to re-weld the cages that hold the radioactive fuel rods in place. It takes a year for a nuclear power plant to get cool enough for human beings to enter. He makes close to $80 an hour to do this job. On the side, he builds metal tanks that hold liquid, and gaseous fuel. He makes about $50 an hour to do this job, even though tank building is more lucrative, because of the moratorium on building nuclear power plants that started in the ’80s.

Women can’t even believe that these jobs even exist. They have no idea how these people (men) are able to do these jobs. My friend’s wife understands these jobs. She bashes these “equal pay” maggots with impunity. Her husband, my friend, will die prematurely because of all the crap that he gets exposed to.

“Equal pay for equal work”. Women still haven’t figured this out yet.

Women also shriek constantly about the importance of teachers. And they do have a point; education is important.

Here’s one thing they forget though: public service jobs do nothing for the economy. They are needed and important, but no country ever became a paragon of economic strength because all of its citizens did government work. It’s the private sector, the manufacturers, the construction companies, the engineers that drive the economy forward.

It’s just gonna get even worse and worse…

Not only do men have to fight harder for jobs, and are often forced into high risk work conditions.
Not only do women start off with higher wages ( entry-level ).
(90% of HR is composed of women… how f~~~ed am i? and my generation? is it any wonder why that i had to go through 44 job interviews to get my first real job – a s~~~ty ass one that i quit a few months ago?)
They have f~~~ing mangina’s lining their pockets!

    http://www.bls.gov/emp/ep_table_303.htm
Why is it that 57.7% of women are working, compared to 70.2% of men?

also, i think this sums up what op wants to say:

I hear that s~~~istic all the time.  (I just made this word up, but I like it and I think I’ll use it some more).  I’m sick of it.  The question I have is this:  If a woman is doing the same work as a man for less money, then why would any company ever hire a man to do anything that they could hire a woman to do for less?  That difference would go straight to the bottom line, and a company hiring women only would be that much more profitable as a result.  I find it very hard to believe that any company would pass up that opportunity for more profitability because someone was hiring men only or paying them more in order to try to oppress women.  I have enough experience with the corporate world to know that profitability drives everything (as it should).

There are links from this site to a video of a woman explaining that when researched in more detail, that wage gap all but evaporates.  But, assuming there actually is a wage gap, here’s a couple more little facts: women are far more likely to call in sick than men, either for their own illnesses or for the illnesses of their kids, far more likely to resist/refuse/complain about being required to work overtime when necessary, obviously more likely to take off for maternity leave and far less likely to integrate themselves into a team where they don’t get to be the star.  These things alone make them less productive, and therefor less valuable employees.

Senior male executives speaking out of ear shot of feminists will tell you that they can hire one qualified woman and put her in any position in any office and probably have no problem.  But if you make the mistake of hiring a second, perfectly qualified woman and put her in that same office, the two of them will spend more time, effort and energy trying to backstab and tear each other down that they will trying to build the company up.  Women will admit to this privately and sometimes write about it publicly.  In another post on this site there is a link to an article written by a  woman in one of these offices populated by women and run like a schoolyard popularity contest.

The willingness and ability to work in teams comes far easier to men than women, and regardless of what you think the origins of that difference are, it’s not difficult to see the effects.  If you ask a little girl what she wants to be when she grows up, she’s likely to say something like movie star, music star, gymnast, ballerina etc.  These are individual accomplishments where they are individually recognized and get all the credit for it to themselves – which is perfectly appropriate for these positions.

If you ask that same question to her brother, you are just as likely to get an answer along the lines of wanting to play in the NBA, wanting to play for the Steelers, or the Yankees.  They just want to be on the team.  It doesn’t have to be all about them individually and they are perfectly happy to share the effort and the credit with the rest of their team.

This difference does not go away.  If you look at Olympic sports most popular among female athletes, you find things like gymnastics, ice skating etc (individual based competition).  Sports popular among men: football, baseball, hockey …  team oriented sports.  Certainly there are exceptions.  But the fact remains that as a man, I can walk into just about any city park in the country, go to the basketball courts and get on a pickup team with a bunch of other guys I have never met before and play against a bunch of other guys I have never met before.  And while playing, my new team mates and I can count on each other to do whatever is needed to help the team win.  We might keep track of one teams score over the other, but we don’t each need our own individual score card or to be individually recognized.

Competition in the corporate world is a team competition.  A successful CEO might get recognized from within the company, but the ultimate scoreboard here is the stock market and the stock price is the all telling ultimate score.  That score is supported by a team.

Given a choice, I’d rather work in a company (on a team) with men not because I have any desire to oppress women or exclude them from anything.  I just want to be on a team that works well enough together to win…

Look, it's not my fault that tornado dropped a house on your sister. Now get back on your broom and get your ass out of here... and take your monkeys with you

I don’t have the link on this computer, but the wage myth has been proven false a million times. The statistic used by feminists (70 vs 100) was a study that was done in the f~~~ing 70’s. It is outdated but feminists won’t tell you that.

Women make the same as men working at the same job.

The issue is men are applying for high risk/high paying jobs like construction/police/fireman while women apply at lower paying jobs like teachers/social workers etc.

That is why the myth is f~~~ed up. They just lumped all the jobs together and did an average which makes no f~~~ing sense. Women don’t want to do hard work that is either physically demanding or require logical thinking like a computer programmer. Women want less demanding jobs that require no lifting and jobs that just require socializing like dental assistant or social worker.

as a soldier who was at one point in time in Afghanistan i can safely say that the vast majority of teachers were/are making more money than i was, even with combat pay and tax free money. so they can bitch even less :>
