In my view Donald Trump’s election was entirely based on convention. 2 terms of Obama and a candidate Hillary who failed to defeat Obama even with Donald Trumps challenges put the democrats in a position of weakness. Where winning a third term as a party under the best of circumstances is an extremely tall order. 2016 minus the nature of the race was predictable and was predicted by the keys of the white house.
Put into simple terms inline with convention it is nearly impossible for the Republicans to hold either house. Minus extraordinary circumstances 9/11 or a scandal which horribly damages the name of the democrats. To put things into simple terms convention has described elections for the past 100 years. It will describe elections for at least the next 50 years and that is being extremely conservative.

Nutty Nancy Pelosi and crying Chuck Schumer have very little credibility left..

Democrat or Republican dominated government, it makes little difference. Government spending is approximately 40% of economic output. Think of it as working two days out of each week, 40% of the week, to pay for the nanny state. All the while, getting in a traffic jam to and from work, due to inadequate roads, since little of the ‘tax take’ was spent on infrastructure such as roads, to help those paying for the s~~~ show.

I would agree the Democrats will likely make gains. The Republicans decided to pass unbalanced budgets and open the floodgates on spending and deficits. No significant, substantive changes such as rolling back social security, the welfare state, government agencies, or military spending have been made under the Republican regime. The conclusion: Republicans love big government almost as much as Democrats.

The media frames the debate by constant discussions of the Mueller investigation and collusion, and school shootings, instead of a substantive discussion of the role of government in the lives of a free people.

The State I reside in has a Republican controlled legislature, Republican governor and other State offices, and is still poorly governed with high taxes, wasteful spending, and gross mismanagement. And it was the same when we had a Democrat as governor.
