The lactation room

So last Friday I get a message from HR asking for my help. Yes, the hive itself, saying that one of the land whales recently delivered a womb critter and is pumping breast milk in the lactation room and is worried that the refrigerator is not good enough to use

First of all, I did not even know we had such a place. Turns out it is locked up at the end of a hall that used to be a closet,

I get my trusty data logger, a type k thermocouple and enter after one of the weemins unlocks the room. This place has a couch, fancy carpeting and a curtain like at the doctors office. Cold as hell in there by the way.

I had one of them unplug the device since I do not want to touch it. I set the scan rate for one minute and go home for the weekend. So, this morning I take the datalogger out, download the data and generate simple basic statistics with graphs.

Average temperature 36 degrees (F for the SI crowd), low of 26 and high around 47. I get an email back from Elsey the cow saying her milk needs to be kept between 33 and 39 degrees for health reasons. Remember, I am in R&D and the only reason they asked me was because I Direct the testing laboratories too.

I told her that what we measured was air temperature, and that a liquid has mass and high thermal inertia. The liquid, when cooled, would not fluctuate much at all.

She argued again when I asked her if she understood what I said, and her answer was oh yea, I know about that.

I talked about defrost cycles, dead band on control circuitry, etc. got no where. Told her to tell HR they need to find her one that controlled to +/-3 degrees

You can’t make this s~~~ up. Lactation room. Stuff comes out of the tap at body temperature for gods sake. She is using the departments fridge in the meantime. I did not bother to tell her it would be no better. She knows better then me.

I get this kind of s~~~ all the time.
It’s always some dried out old bitch that knows better.

One type of machine I use to work on had a drain hose that came out of the bottom of the machine and into a floor drain.

The person that installed the machine cut the drain hose to short.
So what would happen is the floor guy would mop and knock the drain hose out of the drain.

About once a week I would get a call telling me the machine is leaking. And I would say no it’s not, the drain hose got knocked out of the drain again.

Then the old bitch would f~~~ing argue with and tell me that no the drain hose is not laying on the f~~~ing floor, the machine leaks.

I could have added more to the hose but didn’t. Cause sometimes I’m a dick like that.

Even though they are all experts, they ask men for several reasons.

1. Drama. Just for s~~~ sake. Boredom.

2. Need a man as a blame excuse for when they really f~~~ it up.

3. They want to get you in trouble on purpose.

4. They want to take credit for you fixing their mess.

They are geniuses on it all, why do they need us? The above, thats why.

I think i’d complain that there’s a biohazard in the ‘staff’ fridge if she was putting her bodily fluids in there. Just to be an asshole about it.
