The final two weeks after you give notice at your job…

Interesting time. Shows you who really knows what you do (those that are scared you are leaving) and those who have no idea… as a manager who runs a critical department, my boss is scared with me leaving that projects will fall, things will fail, and no one knows what will happen. My employees are kind of ‘meh’ and don’t seem to care… even though they will now report to my boss who is a bit of a task master.

The guy who will be covering in my interim is too busy to learn what I do… and I am having a hard time really caring at this point.

Today is 13 days till I walk out for good. (I wish I could retire but not yet) And I came in 20 minutes late today. (Not truly late, but 20 minutes later than the normal hour and a half early I usually get there). NFG is a great way to go through the day at work too…

No longer can we walk away, we must run. Remove the motive power.

I wouldn’t even give them a two week notice if you don’t need the reference. Other than that well played sir.

True, today’s employment culture ensures that the later group continues to grow. Employees on average stay with a company 4.2 years, so a two week notice no longer has the business context regarding company change, but now has a social context for using vacation/PTO/Comp time that one would otherwise loose upon leaving the company. No one cares about the company / employer, only about self.

Since I am relocating and new job doesn’t start till first week in June, no reason not to at this point, so I thought what the hell? Lets me transition some projects I do care about off to others and enjoy the show for the rest, and collect extra pay till then.
