Your approach to “hold your cards close to your chest” is wise and effective.

My honesty has been a two edged sword. It is good for working with other men. But, dealing honestly with women has created too many problems for me. “No good deed goes unpunished” when dealing with women.

The bridezilla-to-be is no spring chicken, that’s for sure. In fact she’s already made significant contributions to obtaining her official ‘Land-whale’ status. But still, get a ring on it, asap!

Sadly he’s beyond saving. I’ve tried to impart the things I’ve learnt throughout the years onto him but he just doesn’t get it. Things came to a head about 2 years ago when his girlfriend (the one he is now engaged to) kicked me out of THEIR home. He did nothing in that situation and as a consequence I have only spoken to him about three times since. I’ll post the back story on that soon.

He e-mailed me today with the news. So I decided to change tactics with him and instead I congratulated him. I know for a fact that he’ll be second-guessing my response.

Alas, all I feel I can do now is grab a bag of popcorn and trust that he comes out the other end relatively unscathed.
