Greetings, MEN:
“Some men don’t pull well in double harness.” – Lyon Burke, “Valley of the Dolls”. This was stated by the actor Paul Burke in this 1967 film, which is also a very good portrayal of MANY women…. It might be good for any man to see BEFORE he takes on the marriage harness.
After my wife died, I continue to think of this quote, and the movie, which I DID see before I got married … I wonder, NOW: HOW can not just SOME but, ANY man pull well in double harness… And WHY would HE want to? I know at times in the past, I could barely hold it together.
In a side note, about this actor…
I did recall seeing Burke in other productions. The first time I saw him was 60 years ago, in a TV series produced by Jack Webb of “Dragnet” fame in 1956.
It was about a senior and a junior veterinarian running a medical office in a neighborhood. The junior veterinarian was played by Burke.
…The name of the show was “Noah’s Ark”. Here is a six minute clip showing this actor I was trying to recall, Paul Burke. (Please note this music style, camera usage, cigarette smoking, and ESPECIALLY the interaction of the women with Noah –from 1957):But, getting back to the quotation… I was able to use the power of the Internet to find out the quote’s source.
In conclusion…
Marriage at best is a difficult challenge. Picture two animals pulling in double harness: perhaps like a goat and a leopard..OR try picturing other creatures, like an alligator and a horse.
For the last few years, I’ve not been in the marriage harness, and often think about that harness–when I would hear this quote echoing in my mind from the past years.
….. Now being MGTOW, my perception of women has changed very much…. I’m not sure the Redpill rage has even hit me yet.I will write more about this, on another time.
Thank you for reading. To your freedom,
HOMBRE LIBRE
Here’s a clip from the movie I mentioned, showing these “Lovely Ladies”
HOMBRE
We meet again, Paul Burke. He was a good actor. He also made an occasional cameo in Magnum PI.
