This started as a response to miawmiaw’s post titled “Gold digging paradox ?” I will post a link at the bottom, but my post started getting long for a response so I figured I would post it as a separate response.

So first some background about myself. I work as an engineering contractor for a midsize engineering services company. We tend to provide engineers for companies who do not want to hire full time direct engineers during a product’s development, but then can say good bye to us guilt free when the project is finished. As a result the product my company sells is basically my time to a customer. I have been working in various stretches with this company for the better part of a decade.

When I most recently started working with them on some projects, I made it clear that I would only be working 4 days a week. The only debt I have is my house. I owe WAY less on it than what it is worth, hope to pay it off in the next few years, and the rest of my costs are reasonable while being able to bank a good portion of my income. Why work more for unneeded extra stress, taxes, and frustration? I get a 3 day weekend every week.

While reading miawmiaw’s post I started thinking about what my MGTOW influenced work schedule ultimately costs my company. Based on what I get paid, benefits, and what my company charges for my time, I figure my company is making about $25 per hour that I am working.

So me taking 1 day off a week costs the company $200 a week in potential profits. To further the thought experiment lets say based on 50 weeks a year, that comes out to $10,000 per year. Yes, I lose the ability to make that money myself, but the 20% difference in pay doesn’t make a difference in terms of my quality of life, and enjoyment. In fact I usually spend some of my free time learning new things, or doing side projects that keep me more up to date in terms of my skills. I even got a raise this year…

Now to my point, the company I work for has several thousand employees spread all over. What would happen if 100 guys started doing what I do? Then $10,000 lost profit a year becomes $1,000,000. The company still makes money off my time, so my job is safe, but what about the people who count against managerial overhead? Who aren’t actually billable to a customer? Like all those females that spam everyone on the global mailing list for all sorts of nonsense from company headquarters?

I know of 2 other guys I work with who have at least partially switched over to my type of schedule, and ALL the married blue pillers have expressed jealousy over it. Of course they have no choice in the matter, if they voluntarily took a 20% pay cut she would be on the way to the divorce lawyer before he finished talking.

Another side benefit, I can say I am doing my part for income inequality (not that I care.)

Link to miawmiaw’s post, I put it at the bottom, because on my mobile browsers it doesn’t seem to properly stay in the frame of the parent post.

If 100 guys did this, they would hire more workers. They won’t pass up the billable hours.

I totally agree about the “non-billable” people. They are also the first to go if times get tough.

    I work 3 days a week. .
Also live alone in a house that the ex pays half of the mortgage. .I told her if she doesn’t pay I will let the house for foreclose..Ruining her credit for 7 years. .
    I’m in a Mexican standoff.
I think your choice to work a little less is excellent.
Free time and enough money to enjoy life is a rare combination.

Same here, when I got laid off, I found contract engr. Love per-diem.

Met a whole bunch of men going their own way related to women and corporate world. They are doing exactly what you are saying.

I do regret getting sucked back into direct corporate but one day I will return to contract.

Also, as I traveled to each job I purchased a home by college or military area and spent time renovating. They are now rentals.

    Peace brothers

The “Cost” of MGTOW will be to the detriment of non MGTOW’s, the ones who want to use and exploit us. If you’re working a 4 day work week & you have enough cash to live on and time to do things you want, you’re already pretty much living the dream of a self actualized man. Those blue pill coworkers you talk about, the company takes advantage of the fact that they can work them harder & they would probably do the same to you if they had the leverage. For me personally i dont give a s~~~ what the cost of MGTOW to the rest of society is.

All i care about & am thankful for is the “Savings” MGTOW has afforded me. I much enjoy being on the right side of a zero sum game than the s~~~ side of it!
