    She is pro remain…

What should have happened is the negotiation should have been undertaken by strong pro leave from both the two main parties.

Originally in 1975 the UK population voted into the European Community (EC) which was supposed to be nothing more than economic ties between a few countries (4 I think). It was about trade only, and cutting bureaucracy.

Since then the EC has morphed into the European Union (EU), has swelled to 28 countries, and acts as a federal superstructure, overlooking law, trade, culture, etc. It has its own currency which was adopted by most member countries, and it is trying to form its own army. I also believe a EU wide tax code was in the pipeline.

But the EU is run by those to whom it serves best, and many Brits are uncontented (an understatement perhaps) and feel they’re the losers, especially as the EU is a progressive, left leaning organisation hell bent on such values. As a consequence immigration from outside the EU is a major major problem. Immigration within the EU (citizens of one member state can live and work freely in any other) is also a major point of resentment, because though it benefits big business (Romanians working for our minimum wage see that as a FORTUNE) it is argued to have worsened wages and working conditions amongst the indiginous populace, and contributed towards demand for housing thus pushing up prices. A lot of Brits blame Tony Blair who flung the doors open in 2004 to Eastern Europe, tearing down borders, and they absolutely flooded us with cheap labour.

The Brexit vote was mostly a collective statement about immigration.

Other issues include the EU not having its books audited, so it cannot account for the billions of pounds we pay for EU membership each year. They make laws for the sake of making laws. I’m sure there’s about 500 laws governing the manufacture of pillows (or something equally as ridiculous). Some argue it lacks democratically elected leaders, although there is a kind of democracy most are not aware of, but that’s an argument for another time. Nevertheless, their leaders are definitely less accountable than our own government, who have local constituencies, where names can be put to promises, lies, and mistakes. And a lot of Brits feel we lack national sovreignty, as we’re dictated to by the bureaucrats in Brussels.

What it has morphed into was always planned and Heath and successive pms were complicit in it. Papers released have proven it.

The books are audited and the accountants refuse to sign them off.

I am an American who knew very little about what was going on over there, and even I knew, based on very little information, that the powers that be would not let it happen as the people wanted it to. All these “democracies” throughout the West are a f~~~ing joke. The people’s will is subverted by powerful special interests, may as well end the charade and just have dictatorships, f~~~ it. Oligarchies is what they all really are, a small group of powerful people always get what they want.

Correct which is why I have never bothered voting.
