Election Day (I know this really belongs in the Politics Forum but I started the Bus Driver series here):
My most interesting night may have been while driving during the Presidential Election last year. One could easily tell whom one voted for before they stepped on my bus by the look on their face. There were only two looks and nothing between. They were either happier than a pig in slop or “It’s the end of the world”. The end of the world kids were the most interesting with what they said:
They actually believed that law enforcement was going to be taken over by the Nazi party. They actually believed that the USA was going back to slavery, that women would no longer be allowed to vote and rape would be legal. The actually believed that all Latinos and Muslims (legal or not) would be deported. I said nothing as I didn’t want to endanger my job by debating but when alone, I started laughing my head off. I shouldn’t have because these views are actually very sad. It shows how much the media and celebrities have convinced many young people that President Trump is “Worse than Hitler”. The brainwashed are always the last to know they have been brainwashed.
We are going on six months since Trump was sworn in. Where are the Nazi’s? Oh yes, they now go by the name ANTIFA. Are blacks being rounded up? No but I see many black males (and others) on YouTube celebrating the demise of Section 8. They know it will give them more respect. As for women? I have yet to hear of anyone wanting to repeal the 19th Amendment, nor anyone wanting rape to be legalized. I still see Latinos and Muslims as well on campus and off campus. Yet it seems those fears are still being installed and being transformed to: “Impeach Trump, we will find a reason!” I’m not a Republican, I am an Independent and can’t stand either party but I hope people will remember the lies of the media, celebrities and the destruction it has created on some campuses. They remind me of why I left the Democrat Party 18 years ago.
People have gone so bats~~~ crazy that I fear for America. I have spent years arguing in favor of our Right to Bear Arms but now, I am also arguing for the 1st Amendment. When those that disagree are not allowed to speak or assemble on our campuses, what would our founders say? What happened to the Kantian deontology idealized in the Constitution I swore to defend? Have we lost our way?
