I don’t watch reality TV but apparently here in Australia The Bachelor reality TV dating show has gone MGTOW! 25 girls tried to snag The Bachelor Australia 2018, Nick ‘The Honey Badger’ Cummins. In a piece of MGTOW GOLD, Nick decided the juice was not worth the squeeze and chose none of the girls!

Well, think of the level of narcissism it takes to go on a show where you are one of 25 attractive women fighting over one guy. And you have no idea if he is “the love of your life”. But dammit all to hell, you are there to “win”. And to do it in front of an entire nation.

One in 25. That’s a 4% chance you are going to “win”. Even if you make it to the bitter end, you only have a 50/50 shot at being picked. Actually, slightly less than 50/50 because there’s always the chance that the little ball will stop spinning on black and nobody wins (except the house!). And then, even after “winning”, there’s less than a 100% chance that the couple gets married and lives happily ever after.

So really, at the start of the show, any one contestant has about a 2% or so chance of being selected and getting married. That’s either a level of optimism that I’ve never experienced in my life, or a level of entitlement and narcissism that I’ve witnessed many times in my life.

Optimist or narcissist? I think the answer’s pretty clear.

By my understanding the MGTOW thought process is trend is pretty heavy in Australia. Perhaps the show is trying to mimic current social trends? I honestly haven’t watched a single episode myself. I’ve the impression that it’s all staged anyway.
