I had a discussion last year with a woman in the TV business on just that subject. Her take was that these shows are written by guys who are appealing to guys fantasies that even ignorant slobs and still get hot competent chicks. – not my opinion, just relating.

I’ve never owned a TV so I’m only familiar with shows from my childhood. Now that I think of it, the really old shows like I Love Lucy, Father Knows Best, Danny K, Brady Bunch had competent men. Maybe the change happened when feminist influence came in.

The last show I can think of where the man had a brain and the woman was a “Woman” was I Love Lucy, one could argue “Good Times”. Feminism took over the airways and one could imagine the outcry from the SJW’s if there was a TV show when the husband was respectable today. It’s ALWAYS the stupid husband and don’t bother watching a sitcom if you want to see anything else.
