Taking up from my introduction… / Am I really MGTOW ?

After a friend suggested I investigate MGTOW and come here, I have had a few days to lurk, read and even contribute a few posts. Now, it is time to open a can of worms.

I actually found myself arguing with my friend about if I was a MGTOW or not.

I do not consider myself a MRA. Frankly, MR has not impressed me too much for it’s lack of depth and seemingly dire need to fix the total failure of an institution that is Traditional Marriage. There are other issues too, but I have the impression that it would be “beating a dead horse” to go over them here.

On the other hand, what little I have said or posted so far seems to be agreed to by many here.

The counterpoint my friend made was that “MGTOW is not a given set of positions you talk about, but something you do.” He insisted my refusal to marry, LTR or father children and my reasons for it made me MGTOW.

It’s not like I am trying to earn a label or get a gold star on my forehead with the word “MGTOW” on it so I can be a proud schoolboy. It really is about not calling myself something I am not, not misleading someone into thinking I am something I not- even by mistake. That is not honest nor fair to men who are MGTOW. You won’t hurt my feelings by expressing the view that I am not, because this isn’t about feelings.

It’s about getting it right.

And, in a moment of doing things totally backwards, I go to “ABOUT” and read this

Hey Frank, if logic rules your decisions then it’s likely you’re a MGHOW, when the emotional clutter of gynocentric brainwash rules your decisions, then it’s likely you’re not. It’s a matter of seeing the modern paradigm for what it really is. It’s lifting the veil of lies this society uses in it attempts to polish the tarnished stains of feminism, at the same time belittling men.

Let’s see here, you haven’t been married, don’t have kids, aren’t cohabiting with a women, and not planning on it, and are doing whatever the f~~~ you want. If your doing these things, your a mgtow.I don’t know how much more somebody can be mgtow than that. I’d say some brothers here will be proud of you and say wear it as a badge of honor.

In terms of “relationships”, I only do it as an equal on cleary defined terms. I have no reason to ever sell myself into slavery, even if I got the money I asked for, the price would be terrible because I would be not free to spend it. Equality is not negotiable and attempts to “put it on the table” will result in a clear and final “no”. That kills the deal on anything like Traditional Marriage or family roles at the getgo. I am interested in sex and possibly companionship, nothing more.

What has really amazed me is the striking adjustment I am making in this forum. In the face of strong and clear evidence that “something is wrong” with Traditional Marriage, people like me who chose a different path are often seen as walking scandals as though it is the 1950’s ! It is easy for me to feel isolated, like I am the lone biker or cowboy taking a path less traveled.

But WHAMO, I end up here and am surprised by the friendly crowd ! Wow, someone just threw me a beer, invited me to one hell of a tailgate party and now I want to reach into the saddlebag and get out that bottle of Maker’s Mark to share it !

I was told I would be lonely and sad taking this path. But as I sit down to a burger off the grill and a cold beer, hearing someone pouring themselves a generous double shot of the whiskey, I look out my binoculars at the minivan traffic jam on the main highway.

“Those poor suckers” I mutter around a mouthfull of burger and shake my head.

Guess I am still getting used to the crowd !

I think you can even be in a relationship and still be mgtow, but that’s just me, others may not agree, I’m not here to argue, that’s just how I feel about it cause I’m gonna do whatever I want weather I’m with a women or not, so I’ll consider myself mgtow either way, weather somebody agrees or not, ok, I’ll shut the f~~~ up now.

From my perspective it is not a matter of if you are in a relationship, but on the type of relationship.

Not all car rides are the same. A 73 Pinto with a missing rear bumper isn’t going to keep me from enjoying the ride of a Chevy Caprice with a Small Block.

But if I get a nagging rod-knock, I’ll trade it in faster than a rabbit gets laid.

I agree with what you said on its not weather your in a relationship or not, but the type of relationship comment. I used to feel isolated too, but this place has shown that my life is a whole lot better than I thought it was. It all makes sense now thanks to this website. I have learned a lot here and that I’m not alone. I’ve learned that these things didn’t just happen to me. I’m one of the lucky ones like you are, as far as being single with no kids, and all the suffering that has come with those things, like child support alimony divorce ect. You know, I’m just a guy who was gonna marry a girl that was cheating on me. Luckily I found out and never had kids. Now I’m very careful with relationships in general, with man and women. But I’m currently single and know how many people wish they didn’t have all those burdens, how they got f~~~ed over because of there women and the system. Anyways, welcome to mgtow, cheers.

To be more clear- the bad experience of driving the 73 Pinto is not going to keep me from enjoying a better car. In traffic, I will be keeping far away !

I just dropped the MGTOW label. I’ve seen quite a few radical MGTOW makes me cringe. There is one guy considers himself MGTOW and he calls all women whores. At the same thing he is having relationships with these women and having sex. It just makes me wonders what does it make him if he’s being a whore himself.

@C-Canook, dropping a label over some hypocrite doesn’t change YOU from who YOU are, Just because some chump punk calls himself MGTOW, doesn’t make him MGTOW, it makes him a transparent hypocrite, a person we refer to as a FOOL…. If it makes you any more comfortable I’ll refer to you as ƆƆGHOW(CrazyCanuckGHOW) and not MGHOW…..
