I understand it’s serious in USA, and the n-word is tabooed. But in the USSR, and later in Russia, the word “negr” was absolutely normal, and no one even couldn’t think it’s the insult for the black people.
I remember a song with lyrics like: “Ay-ay- ay-ay -ay, they killed a negro” and the last person who I could imagine, it’s a real African man. I don’t know how did it happen that in USA the n-word became a serious insult.
