Stupid train of thought at work today

For some reason today, my mind wandered off to do some personal math regarding the BS surrounding the “Gender Pay Gap”. I must have been some random email or phone call regarding the shortage of labour available at the main shop, despite being “fully manned”.  The staff is pretty much equal in gender, and the rates of pay are exactly the same for each job. Yet for the last 4 months the “big” shop has been running with 1/4 to 1/3 the “manpower ” in the warehouse even though it really hasn’t slowed down that much.  The “pay gap” crap is all the rage yet again, so I ended up sending my subordinate over frequently to cover them. This made me remember a conversation about “equal” pay with a female co-worker about how little she makes, and how unfair it was. So dumb ass here came up with this…

“our” shippers and receivers were paid 16.50 to 18.00/hr. depending on qualifications. so at minimum it would be 1320.00 per regular 80hr pay period, to a maximum of 1440.00. Both her and I were at the higher end of the scale, yet she always complained about not being paid the same as the guys.  I ended up breaking it down for her like this.

Base pay $37440.00 net – Overtime @ rate x 1.5

Her –

Sick/medical days taken –  14 days (max 10 paid entitled) neg 576.00

Vacation days (paid)taken 10 days (10 entitled)

Stress leave (unpaid)taken – 21 days (7 entitled with pay)neg 2016.00

emergency leave taken –  7 days ( max 7 with pay)

lates (30 minutes or more) – 19 = neg 171.00 (at 30 min each late)

overtime earned  – 8hrs@ 18.00 x 1.5 hr ($216.00)

So she earned $37440.00 – $2547.00 =$34893.00 net

Me-

Sick days (paid) -1 (10 paid entitled)

vacation days (paid)-0 (10 entitled -had to carry over)

stress leave (unpaid)- 0 (max 7 entitled with pay)

emergency leave – 0 (max 7)

lates – 0

overtime worked – 197hrs@ 18.00 x 1.5 hr ($5319.00)

I earned $37440.00 + $5319.00 =$42759.00 net

Oh, s~~~ I just realized I did get paid more because I am a man…. it had absolutely nothing to do with actually being at work an pulling overtime did it?

If you’re hiring, I’ll be glad to get some of that overtime pay. I don’t have a life, and I usually don’t call in sick more than 3 days out of the year.

women earn equal pay at my workplace ..they just use WAY more sick / personal time ..often exceeding the very generous amount we recieve.. result ? they WORK LESS so they get PAID LESS !!!!

Women have no sense of logic.  They feel entitled to get what they see everyone else around them getting.  It never occurs to them that those other people are working MORE than they are.  They’re stupid and lazy.  All they see is the end dollar signs are less than the man next to them and they flip out.  They “deserve” to have that much money too.  No matter that the man actually worked like he was supposed to and didn’t dick around.
