From memory, ca. 10 years ago there was a baby in Ohio that had some rare medical thing.

The newspaper said she had 100 surgeries before she was 2 y.o. and was having insurance issues.

I have yet to see you take this stance in regards to the billions a year we send to already wealthy and crazy small Israel, nor have I seen you take this stance against the trillions spent on never ending war in their interest.

I don’t see much of a difference between people on the Right who are ok with money being spent as long as it is something they support and those on the Left. Not much a difference at all.

With the money given over the years to Israel and spent on wars in the interest of Israel the U.S. could have built a virtual utopia for every man women and child in their country, and I may be understating the issue really. Also, the U.S. could have saved millions of lives in Africa, and built up it’s infrastructure/education/medical needs far exceeding where they are now.

Nah, that’s crazy talk. Let’s keep giving all our money to an extremely small and extremely wealthy group of people who cant even stop killing and stealing from the people who they took their country from.

Sadly it isn’t just liberals that think we have unlimited resources to spend on health care. We spend a lot of money on elderly, end of life patients, just so they can live an extra few months laying around in a hospital bed in severe pain, drugged up and staring vacantly at the TV. Many of whom are conservatives etc. or it is supported by them.

At some point, we will have to make some hard choices on exactly what are the best ways to spend our resources.

To me I would rather spend the money on younger people who might have a productive life, or accomplish great things for our society, than an elderly person, no matter how great a person they were, who will never have another productive day.

There’s no such thing as “free”. If you give everyone a “free” dollar to “help” them buy an apple a day to keep the doctor away, the price of an apple goes up by a dollar. those who couldn’t afford an apple before still won’t be able to afford an apple.

What we should be striving to do is make healthcare affordable to all, which is actually achievable unlike so-called “free” healthcare. We do that by increasing the supply of medical care. We make it easier and more lucrative for people to become doctors and nurses and other health care providers. Insane, monopoly creating regulations, complex insurance schemes, and “free health care” scams do the exact opposite, making it less lucrative and more burdensome to be a doctor, thereby driving most out of the market and leaving the few who remain as a de facto oligopoly able to massively increase prices while restricting service.

Billions of dollars get sent to Israel while the US is mostly a s~~~hole city wise. If you take NYC, Boston (the general area), Seattle, Portland and Texas out this country would be a complete s~~~hole that rivals the second world.
