Batman 1989 – They have Alfred let a female reporter enter the Batcave after Bruce dated her for what, a couple of weeks. Cos….love. Or something.

Batman Returns – They have Batman give away his identity to Catwoman, a psychotic criminal. Cos romance.

Batman Forever – They have him give up being Batman cos of wanting to be with Nicole Kidman’s character.

Batman and Robin – Not even mentioning that clusterf~~~.

The Dark Knight Trilogy. – Batman gives up for 8 years cos Rachel Dawes died. Nevermind he became Batman because his parents died. Rachel matters more apparently. Throughout Rachel is portrayed as Bruce’s hope for a normal life. Then he finally gives up for good to shack up with Catwoman.

Hollywood keeps pushing the idea that all he needs to be normal and give up his quest is to find love. To find a good woman. That’s not the character in the comics and it’s just cheapens the setting and makes it all a petty, pathetic thing to watch.

They need to stop that with the new movies. The whole idea that he’ll give it all up to get married. Bulls~~~.

Thats why no matter how much I enjoy the newer movies I will always have a special place in my heart for the 60’s Adam West Batman. It’s campy, cheesy, colorful and has a comic book feel to it. Also there is a XXX parody of it thats actually pretty good. If you like porn check it out.

You know, I could write and illustrate a series of graphic novels featuring a male hero of my own making. And I am willing to bet good money that everybody – including the same women who complain about female love interests – would pester me about why he didn’t have one.
