The authors’ conjecture is plausible: An STI or two taught me to be very careful where I let Mr. Happy play!

Sexually transmitted infections, peer pressure may have turned humans into monogamists

Not likely. Monogamy meant security. Although a man would surely spread his seed wherever, he still would want to protect his offspring, and he can’t do that if he has too many ‘wives’. The woman also want to protect her offspring, and she can’t do that without a man to protect her and her child.

Why are women sleeping around in great numbers these days? Partially because of birth control, but mostly because the government guarantees security for her offspring regardless of her loyalty to the father. Can you imagine if the father got to keep the child in case of divorce? The divorce rates would plummet.

I get that STIs might have had an influence, but it seems minor. As well, they had no idea how STIs worked.

    Ok. Then do it.

    Yep..
My pal got herpes…she gave it to him on purpose.

    Women…the new plague carriers.

    Get a fleshlight.

At least herpes are loyal unlike women these days.
