The Force Is Strong With This One: Envy Fuels Many Facebook Posts And How This Exposes One To The ‘Dark Side’

social media makes it too easy for people, especially young people to compare themselves with others… It makes people seek approval such as likes on facebook or follower on twitter… Approval from others is not the path to success or happiness

MGTOW is not a movement, it is a way of life.

    Yeah social media…. yuck!

I was on facebook from 2007 to 2008! I had friend invites from people from high school and grade school… and we weren’t even friends back then, so I would quickly rebuff the friend invite…. but some of them were pretty freaken insistent, and that’s when I realized the popularity contest.

Shortly after that realization and seeing all kinds of benign notifications of “so and so” said this and that to “so and so”….. yeah delete profile.

    Never looked back!

Staying off social media… yeah that’s ghosting brothers.

I log into Facebook about once a week these days. I got fed up with the constant narcassism on display and duckface selfies.

Before that, i got fed up with scorned women posting s~~~ on my page because i’d f~~~ed them and didn’t want to persue a relationship, or because i didn’t want to f~~~ them/persue a relationship. You’d think women would apreciate being friend zoned but they seem to hate it more than men do.

Can’t win either way with women. But meh.

Sometimes, I miss the old web way back around 2000. That’s why I like reading this forum. It was fun being more social online back then. I even chatted almost every day with group of friends in New Zealand and Perth in the old Lounge Chat. We all had our little web pages we created on Ninemsn Groups. We had guest books and people who visited usually left greetings behind. Some even had background midi music quietly playing. Almost everyone was on dial-up. Late on Friday nights, which would have been Saturday for them .. the old Lounge chat room would scroll by so fast it was actually difficult to read the posts. I remember one evening there were well over 130 people chatting. The screen scrolled almost like an old gas pump twirling the numbers. If someone swore in the chat, they’d get booted right out by the sysops or the bots and would return in a couple of minutes and continue chatting. It was fun. They cancelled and shut down the old Lounge on Tuesday, October 14 2003 and I lost contact with all of them.

Since then, I have basically no interest social media; no Facebook, no Twitter, no Tinder, no Texting ..nothing .. next year sometime, I might even disconnect altogether since there’s not much left that’s unique; that’s not gone totally commercial. I did save the transcripts from a few old chat sessions down in Oceania. Fun to go back and reminisce ..good old web days. It’s hard to believe all that went on back then; even chatting with plug in webcams and just using 56k modems ..leaving the machine running all night long to try and download a little video of only several minutes in length.

It’s not social media’s fault, people have always done this. It’s just that now it’s easier than ever to do it. Remember, your fb profile isn’t who you are, it’s who you want the world to think you are.

I use Facebook in ways to keep in touch with family and old HS friends. Just like the saying goes: The more we elaborate on our means of communication, the less we communicate.
I rarely go on. But I am part of many good FB groups.
Any women with vanity profiles I delete. Social media is what you make it. Social media can help make MGTOW even more available than before.

Yes, we should never allow anyone else’s opinion to constitute our self esteem.

I am on Facebook, mostly because my family members are. I also belong to a couple of groups relates to Datsun 240Zs. Old-school groups where a bunch of men help each other do fun s~~~ with cars.
I don’t put pictures of myself or any of my personal s~~~ up there, nor do I try to date anyone from there.
I had a couple of women try to get to know me, until I explained that I live way the hell up in the hills and will NOT drive to met them, am allergic to cats, don’t like American Italian restaurants or movie theaters or long walks on the beach without a fishing pole and some REAL anchovies, and I have zero patience for relationship games.
And no, I haven’t been “really hurt” in the past, I’m not afraid of commitment, I just don’t want it. Not afraid of athlete’s foot, but don’t want any of that either.
That quick revelation shuts them up immediately. No chance for any kind of seduction or romantic ploy, no room at the table, no game to join. Got something interesting to say? Post it, and I might “like” it. They almost never do.
Social media is only a nightmare if you expect it to make a dream come true.

What I find funny about Facebookers is “look at all my friends! I have over 900 friends and over 1000 likes.” Young people really believe they have all these hundreds of friends, when maybe only 3 or 4 of them are actual real-life friends. They sound foolish saying that they have hundreds of friends, when no one can possibly have time for that many people. One example was from an episode of Pawn Stars when Corey is explaining Facebook to his grandfather, and he’s telling his grandfather that he has over 900 friends, and the grandfather tells him that those all not his actual friends.

Personally I think Facebook is one of those things that should never of been invented. People need to communicate with each other, meaning real-life people interactions, and those who waste precious time on Facebook suffer real communication skills. I remember back as a kid in the 90s, kids used to play outside, and was with their friends playing games, but now kids (getting fat) are sitting on Facebook and their phones as if they’re is nothing else in the world. Facebook is a disease and the only one who benefited off it was Marc Zuckerburg, who I hate with a passion.

I do remember those days as well, the cheesy websites on geocities with the 25mb bandwidth limit, using midi music and the “stupid toucan” flying around the page. Then there was messenger and everything revolved around that for years…until facebook, social media and skype slowly choked it to death around 2010. Then it became a ghost town and was shut down. I remember in the early 2000’s downloading a 10mb game demo took 1 hour (dial up) and a 30mb demo took all day and had to be constantly watched to make sure it didn’t disconnect. It’s funny digging around and finding the stupid things you posted on the internet 15 years ago, under some pretty cringeworthy aliases.

The internet was a much more exciting place back then. It’s really sad what it’s become. It was so amazing once.

I remember that life too. We went outside and found ways to entertain ourselves, sometimes staying outside well after dark. We used to ride bikes in circles around the street and just talk about life and current events. Stayed out for hours in the winter digging snow forts in the huge pile of snow dumped on the corner of the street. That way of life is practically extinct now.

I was on FB for about a week in 2007. Too many people I didn’t want to connect with started contacting me. Pulled the plug on that an never looked back. Never got into the whole thing, maybe it’s my age.

Google me and you only find my address listed as public record.

I have a two facebook accounts. One I put together for business purposes. The other is a social account. I find it interesting that General Motors a couple of years back invested $10M into Facebook advertising and pulled the plug on further FB ads because it wasn’t making enough money from advertising on FB. I had a similar experience trying to advertise my businesses on FB and pulled the plug on further ads..

Like many on here I feel like FB is a waste of time catering to others’ narcissism. In fact, I have not been on FB in over a week now and don’t miss it. Perhaps I’ll never log on again………..or just delete the accounts.

I generally just use FB to stay in contact with redpilled friends, shoot the s~~~ laughing at SJWs and other tards, and s~~~posting. It’s a great waste of time for the times when I don’t feel like picking up Ulysses.

Although it is kinda sad to see my few bluepill buddies suck up to women. But eh, they’re dandy otherwise.
