Status You Consider Yourself After Divorce Is Finalized?

Greeting gents, as the title proposes, it is a question I have often asked myself after I was done with the entire divorce process. This question usually comes back to the forefront of my mind, every time I am in the situation of answering my current status. Whether it be due to filling out a legal form, contract, or some female asking.

So, was wanting to get some feedback from others that are divorced, and get your take on it.

While I see myself single, forms always list:

Single
Married
Divorced
Widowed

I personally do not like saying I am divorced (that was concluded years ago) and I always feel like I am still giving power to my XW, in my mind, if I think that way. To me, it is & has been ancient history, and for all intents & purposes, I just see myself single & free.

Yes, on one hand, it really doesn’t matter to me, which way I answer, but then again, I think maybe it should matter to me. I also am not sure which is better to tell a female when she asks. I am leaning in the direction of just saying single. In the past, when I have volunteered that information & said divorced, they almost always suddenly seem to be all into me. Makes me think she says to herself, “Oh, you been on the plantation before? Let me take my best shot getting you back on it again.”

Anyone else ever thought about this?

Well I was divorced from any intentions of getting married for almost 35 yrs so I guess I’m not qualified to answer that question.

I am somewhat confused what is even the reasoning behind this question and the answers. Most times I come across this in questionnaires – it’s completely unrelated to the purpose of gathering useful data in that context. It’s like if you were trying to get a job and there would be a question “what pets do you have?”
my marital status should not be any of your f~~~ing business. It’s an intimate question really, which creeped its way into every f~~~ing piece of paper you have to fill out. What’s next? Are we going to have to answer if we pee standing up or sitting down every time you change your oil? I HATE STUPID UNREASONABLE QUESTIONS ASKED FOR NO REASON OTHER THAN TO VIOLATE YOUR PRIVACY AND GAUGE YOUR CONFORMITY

Thanks for that, yeah…I had a “duh” moment. Anyone and everyone certainly, by all means.

I always wanted a box that said no comment as an option. After reading your post, it dawned on me that this bothers me more than I initially thought it did.

Yeah, pretty much were my head is with it as well.
Except for damn forms & s~~~ that keep me from doing it.
