I’ve come back to Texas from Arkansas, and in desperation I got creative just to make some kind of income.

I give pay rides to international students that live by and attend the university I live near. I still know several of them, and some have spread the word to the other international students. I beat Uber’s deals by far. I tried signing up for Uber but the market is oversaturated with other drivers, so I found a way to attract people better.

The income is slow, but it’s all I need in my situation.

Now I’m wanting to get creative with other methods. I’m loving doing my own thing, and I am curious what other things I COULD possibly do to make an income. One of my good friends suggested I do some kind of freelance stuff with my insane typing skills, and some have mentioned I do light computer repairs or even help with moving (my Excursion CAN fit a lot of boxes in the back).

Anyone have any other ideas? I’ve not felt this motivated in years!

Congrats man, way to think outside the box. Stealthy will tell you to become a handyman. There’s a website called Fiver, or something like that, where you can hire people to do quick errands or jobs. You might want to try that. Maybe you could be an escort for young ladies walking home late at night. You know, protect them from the Patriarchy?

I advertised it on the international students’ Facebook page (the admin of that page recommended I do that to get the word started). For now I have a ride to the airport, which for me is $20 (Uber would cost him nearly $30). I created incentives (every sixth ride is $0.50 a mile) and have been talking about lump payments to cover a certain amount of rides. These guys love the idea, because they don’t have to spend thousands on a car (though they can afford it but they would rather save). It saves them money and makes me money, so it benefits both of us!

Stone chip repair on windshields. You should be able to buy the tools necessary for less than $400 USD. Call some glass shops in the area to see how much they charge per chip. Here in Alberta I get $40 CDN per with the materials costing less than one dollar. Best of luck, nice to see you back GM%!

I’ll look into that! That’s a good idea!! How about WHERE to advertise to expand my horizons a bit? Facebook is kicking it off well so far, but I’m curious where else I could promote this. Some sites require a payment to start up, and some take out of what I’d make so that they as a business can make money off me as well.

These are the guys I use in Canada. I use them because they are the closest to my physical location. I’ll bet Texas has many more options.

This is a GOOD idea, too! I found a bike being thrown out. It’s a tad rusty, but it still works. I put it up for sale yesterday online for $20, and an older guy messaged me just an hour later saying he’ll take it off my hands today, as he would like a bike to polish up himself and exercise on. PERFECT!

There you go. Free inventory is even better. Good luck and I hope you do decide to learn and get in to this. Lots of money could be made on the side. People buys all kind of crap on Ebay. You would be amazed.
