That’s just Speilberg… He has always been a G rated director who graced us with boring family flicks like Super 8 and others.

We already have enough faux hero movies. Hunger Games, Tomb Raider and about fifty other movies where an unbelievable female does things that no woman in history could ever do. Keep selling Egalitarianism and denying sexual dimorphism, just one more step towards human extinction.

We already have a female Indiana Jones, her name is Lara Croft.

Just recently I saw videos of Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford, where they describe their real despise towards what had been done with their characters in SW.

Can I imagine their hatred towards such a feminization of sci-fi / adventure films!

Oh come on! Those guys got the scripts before filming. They had no problem accepting payment to act out s~~~ they had an issue with. They could have easily said no.

Controversy to create buzz and get the money ball rolling for Indian Jones Part 5,6,7, the two trilogies set to debut in 2030, the eventual “remake” and 7 sequels. Total gross 800 billion.

Just a soap opera about an archaeologist. Let’s make a comment to get people arguing and sell more tickets. Don’t take the bait man.

It’s a bad idea, but I see no point in getting concerned about it either way. The idea is so bad I would not be surprised if this is just a stunt to convince SJW that they tried.

This is a worse idea than female ghostbusters. At least the male ghostbusters characters were not involved in physical violence and/or had a strong male role with respect to women. That is exactly what Indiana Jones is. He is physical and solves many of issues with a blunt punch. You can’t replicate that with a female. He is also bluntly logical, which is usually demonstrated in his dialog with women, who are there to be illogical, a contrast to Jones blunt logic. You can’t replicate that with a female actor.

All you can do is use the Jones name with similar film locations to sell crap. A female Indian Jones will just be Lara Croft by another name.

Thankfully though, I think I am beyond feeling like good movie franchises are ruin with these modernized crappy versions of them. Besides, the 4th film was already really crappy.

    Ok. Then do it.

That’s precisely the point, purpose, and motivation behind it. Portraying women as “equals” to men in every way imaginable; only ‘sexy’.

It’s absolutely ridiculous. It’s bad enough to reboot so many films, but gender swapping roles is social engineering.

    Resident cynic.

But it can’t be done. Picture the scence from Raiders where Marion was stock in the c~~~pit of a plane, spinning around, and Indiana was in hand to hand combat with a muscle bound bad guy. Now switch the roles of Marion and Indiana. There is no way to make that scene work. First of all the male Marion would be completely unappealing as love interest for a female Indiana. At best, he’s comedy relief. Second, how can you make a female Indiana fight a much bigger man and make it entertaining and remotely believable. Perhaps you make the baddie a body building woman? How does that appeal to your male or female audience? Men will only care if it involves some shedding of clothes or boobs bouncing the right way….and that will offend the women. Women will only like it a woman beating a man in some weird way, like supernatural ability or superior emotional intelligence. It’s utter crap no matter what.

And by the way, Jones was popular amongst a female audience, because he WAS sexy and because he treated women the way they secretly wanted to be treated.

    Ok. Then do it.

    Narwhal,

I agree with you. Creating a female Indiana Jones makes no sense and is utterly preposterous. But, that never stopped Hollywood. Even more so in a hyper feminized era. Regarding a petite woman fighting big men – they’ve been doing this in films for the past decade. There are countless films where this is portrayed. Some petite, sexy, female “bad ass” killing men who weigh twice what she does. Already been done countless times.

It’s utter crap no matter what.

    Completely agree.

And by the way, Jones was popular amongst a female audience, because he WAS sexy

Completely agree as well. I meant they’re going to make the female version of Indiana Jones “equal” in every attribute, except replace them with a physically female form of sexiness. Hell, they’ll probably make her more intelligent and more caring as well. That’s just how they’re doing it in Hollywood now.

    Resident cynic.

Everyone keeps mentioning this film. I’ve never seen any of those. Is it really similar to Indiana Jones?

Actually they are very similar in what they do. Yes.
