Women really do believe they can ride the alpha carousel and put all of the “nice” guys in a holding pattern until they are useful in some way. While they have been riding the carousel these guys have got good jobs, bought houses and invested their money. I don’t really think this one event should be extrapolated as representative of all of dating. There is way too much we don’t know about this case. It sounds like this is the first time this woman has tried to organize this, and really doesn’t know what she’s doing.

For one thing, she’s not that attractive, and a man’s natural instinct is to assume the women attending will look somewhat like her. So why pay for that. As well, she likely has no idea how to market to men in general. She only appealed to women over 30, which appears to be the demographic she fits in. She knows how to market to that group since she is that group. And it appears like she put this up at some kind of community center? Probably not even serving alcohol. Hold this in a bar and your likely to get a better turnout.

Im not saying that dating isn’t in a state of decay or anything of that nature, but this is a single case that may be more of an outlier that a match of reality, even if looks and feels to be. I’d rather see some actual stats from a much bigger sample size.

Possibly. But they don’t say what golden years means age wise. Either way, women only live 5 years longer than men statistically. Another reason men 70+ don’t need to attend such events, is the “condo cowboy” phenomenon. Any relatively healthy man who can still drive at night, in the elder age group range, can be a playa with multiple girlfriends…and the women are ok with it. Because of this, STDs have become a huge problem at retirement communities such as The Villages” in FL.
