It is the plot of Atlas Shrugged playing out in real life and in real time. +1 for Ayn Rand.
Take a minute and think about the parallels between socialist, liberal, and feminist agendas, against productive (business)men.
“We are on strike, we, the men of the mind. We are on strike against self-immolation. We are on strike against the creed of unearned rewards and unrewarded duties. We are on strike against the dogma that the pursuit of one's happiness is evil. We are on strike against the doctrine that life is guilt.”

I stopped all roofing contracts in the 80s when they changed the comp laws to 86% of every dollar earned goes to insurance, I folded my tent the day it went into effect.
Now with Obortion Care it’s going to be more of the same gear chipping policies destroying the transmissions of industry. They won’t stop until we’re dead or their heads are displayed on a pike, that’s the indisputable laws of history, located just below the laws of nature in isle 7.
Ways to make money
Buy a sail boat: refit it and learn how to sail.
Do boat deliveries for other sailboat owners and get into the Backpacker trade.
Every year college kids go between Panama and Columbia via a Sailboat with a stop over for several days at the San Blas Islands.Typical going rate is about $400 cash. It’s about a week’s voyage to and from Cartegna, Columbia to Panama each way.
Put 4 kids aboard, supply them with booze and food and that’s $1600 gross or about $1000-1200 net. 3-4 runs a month for 3 months comes out to: $9000 to $14,000
The average cost to live on a small 30′ sailboat (including eating out, drinking booze, maintenance) in the Eastern Caribbean for 2 people is about $20,000 per year. For a single person you can get by on $800 per month (actually lower but the figure gets bumped up due to haul outs, and maintenance).
If you are at anchor as opposed to paying dock or mooring fees. And eating and drinking aboard as opposed to hitting the bars and restaurants…it is a very cheap way to live.
And it is also very pleasurable and relaxing with lots of snorkeling and spear fishing.
Work 3 months and take the rest of the year off. When Hurricane season rolls around: go through the Canal to the West Coast and anchor in Zihuatanejo (“Z-town”), Mexico or continue on up the coast to Canada.
Extra money can be had doing boat deliveries. Lots of sailboat owners move and need their boats moved to another country or opposite side of the states.
Advantages – Cheap, Fun, no rat race to deal with, no smog, no traffic jams, no taxes (the backpacker trade is completely unregulated and in cash). Weather is nice. Very short work period each year.
Rest of the time can be spent having fun.
Cons – not many, small space meaning you can’t have much stuff.

Anonymous42Hey Realitybites, when I was in the Yucatan on the deck of a ship with my BIG ASS binoculars all I saw on the high seas was sailboats, especially along the coasts. So I know what you’re talking about, I didn’t know they were for hire, I thought they were pleasure craft.

Oh yeah. A lot of people don’t even realize your employer pays 6.2% into social security and 1.45% into medicare that you don’t even see. Additionally…we see another 6.2% and 1.45% coming out of our pay checks for these programs. That is 15.3% of your total compensation! If these programs didn’t exist, or were optional, and I just got to invest 15.3% of my gross on my own for the 16 years I’ve been working I’d probably have an extra 300,000 in liquid assets right now. Instead I’m forced to keep throwing money into s~~~ty programs that are on the course to insolvency, which as far as return on investment is concerned will be the worst investments I ever make.
My new favorite thing to do when people want to start talking politics and its obvious they are Bernie Sanders supporters is to tell them how amazing universal health care will be because healthcare is going to be my biggest retirement expense, and if we get universal healthcare right now, I’d have enough money in savings to retire any time I want and get free health coverage for life and not have to pay a dime into the system! Its kind of hilarious how a lot of them, especially the ones with above average incomes who are just poor at managing their money, think they’ll benefit from such programs, but when you remind them their taxes are going to go up while they struggle to pay a mortgage, car payments, and student loans off, and I could potentially start riding their back any time I want, they suddenly get a look of rage in their eyes lol. Socialism is all cool when they view it as rich people’s money benefiting them but when viewed as their money benefiting someone else they seem to get p~~~ed off for some reason.
The only reason Venezuela failed…isn’t because of it’s policies…it’s because of constant intervention by the United States government in funding their opposition. Ever since Chavez took power, the United States has felt threatened.
They did the same thing in Libya, Ukraine, Iraq, and Afghanistan…now all are failed states.
This isn’t an indictment against capitalism or a supportive post of socialism…these are just verifiable facts. Further, Venezuela wasn’t any more socialist than the United States…with the exception that it’s voting system was one of the most advanced and fair in the world, according to the Carter Foundation.
The kind of duplicity that destroyed the countries above is the same sort of greedy dirty dealing we, as men, are subjected to by feminists each and every day.

You are singing my song. My life plan is to save enough to buy a 40 foot sailboat and dock it in Key West. Drink a lot and sail the Caribbean while chasing local tourists.
Thing is I have a great retirement and don’t have to work…just have fun.
Now that is my idea of going my own way.

I have the capabilities to create new businesses but I do not. My new Jewish friends said the same thing. The payroll laws are too socialist.

The Carter Foundation.
’nuff said.
They only time socialists can ram it down your throats, is when the government or economy is about to collapse. Otherwise they stay away, because it’s a bankrupt idea.

Yeah that was quite a bit of kool-aid that guy chugged. Venezuela imploded because the government was spending way more money than they could afford. Oil made up the bulk of the governments revenue, and when oil prices dropped, the government dropped with them.
I don’t know if its true or not as I’ve never verified it, but a buddy of mine was telling me he read about a Clorox factory in Venezuela. The factory employed people and paid them a decent wage for their area, and made a product they could sell at a profit. One day, the socialist government decided to tell Clorox we’re taking over your factory because we are socialists and that is what we do, we’re going to tax 100% of your profits. Clorox said ok, then proceeded to lay off all their employees, remove all their equipment, and leave behind no jobs and an empty factory.
They did the same thing in Libya, Ukraine, Iraq, and Afghanistan…now all are failed states.
Except…all those countries had bombs dropped on them by us or Russia. They really don’t have anything in common with Venezuela which is collapsing because their primary income was oil money, and they’d need 150 dollar a barrel oil to finance their spending.
An attempt to do a real life Galt’s Gulch in Chile also failed the past few years.
You can Google more information on this. It would seem no one has this government thing sorted out sufficiently to make everyone happy at all.
