I play mostly Nintendo or Super Nintendo but i am looking to play genesis games as well since emulators help me foreign games as well as those i can’t afford.

Also Nintendo 64 emulation (as of right now) sucks.

Hasn’t N64 emulation been mature for atleast a decade? I was playing Goldeneye and stuff on Project64 in 2004 and it was very playable and compatible.

Mupen64 seems to be a solid solution as well.

Not sure about Sega Genesis emulators. Sounds like Kega Fusion is a good bet though.

Yes but project 64 bundles itself with adware (which i don’t need to get on my pc).

Pity, it didn’t used to in another life. Perhaps try 1.6? It claims to have no spyware, or nagware in it, even though it’s 11 years old.

I’m pretty happy with the retro pie suite of emulators on the raspberry pi3.

    Genesis – Fusion

That’s what I use to play my old Genesis games. You can even play Master System, Game Gear games on it as well.

Visual Boy Advance. Free and open source. Don’t know if there is a mobile version around or not though.

Let me tell you all the emulators I use to play my 80s/90s era games on my PC and I will tell you they do work, at least on my Windows XP and 7 Pro:

    NES – Jnes
    Genesis, GameGear, Master System: Fusion
Nintendo DS (not 3DS): NO$GBA – adjust setting to make it work
GameBoy (standard), Color, and Advance: Visual Boy Advance 1.8.0 beta
PS1 – ePSXe180, PCSx – runs on ISOs, adjust settings
    PS2 – PCSX2-1.2.1-r5875 – adjust settings and BIOS
    Super Nintendo – bSNES v063
    Turbo Graphix 16: pce
All other systems, I don’t know

They do work and I have over 1,000 classic games to play with those emulators.

There’s also a Gamecube emulator called Dolphin that is playable. I got Luigi’s Mansion and Super Monkey Ball going on it.

Nestopia is not all that bad either.

I had Dolphin before, but because all my GameCube games are now all available to the PS3 and are saved on it, I just deleted that and the ISOs. If I’m going to use up any GBs, it be on my PS3 which is hooked up to my 42″ HDTV instead of a computer.

    Also Dolphin has Wii play.

How would you mod a gamesystem in order to play roms?

I’ve used both Frodo and CCS64 and they worked (not sure if that is helpful). Played some old ColecoVision games from my childhood on an emulator too.

I once tried an Amiga emulater because I wanted to play Paradriod 90 but couldn’t make it happen, got it going on an Atari ST emulator for memory.

    EDIT:

How would you mod a gamesystem in order to play roms?

You’d have to recreate the engine. Do you mean a game system as in a Wii or PS2? Because in Windows, it would be just one more program, but on a console, that may indeed be a challenge.

I know that using emulators is easy on the PC but how do the people do it on console (aside from downloading firmware on the PSP).

Amiga emulation is very mature now. AmigaOS was a fantastic operating system all the way through the 3.9 days. But it’s not as simple as the typical emulator. Since you need to install and configure the operating system first.

Could also look into AmigaForever software to simply the process.
