This is a very controversial topic from what I understand.
It seems like it creates division among groups, there’s no real consensus among normies, feminazis, sjw, asian, persian, symbiotes, orcs, reptilians, muggles or what have you.1.- “Absolute equality must be absolute”
Some believe that everyone should share the same rights therefore the same responsibilities because rights come with responsibilities. One without the other is tyranny or oppression.2.- “Men and women are not equal so you can’t pretend they are”
Others believe that men and women are not equal so they shouldn’t have equal responsibilities and rights. In this case the approach comes from the practical standpoint that it’s detrimental to the military to inject women in it because they don’t comply with the current standards. This point of view might be against human rights because no one can chose their own sex so one can’t be “held responsible” and have different rights/responsibilities on virtue of their sex.3.- “Believe in true equality with practical exceptions”
Some believe that women should have all the rights and responsibilities with exception of cases such as military since it’s clearly detrimental to the quality of any military to try to achieve gender equality cuotas.4.- “Females deserve more rights because vagina”
I don’t expect anyone around here to fall in this category. This people believe that actually females should rule and have more rights than males. As for responsibilities I don’t think they have considered them because this people have feelings instead of logic fueling their thoughts.5.- Stuff I don’t know about
My opinion: I can’t decide. I’m like 75% in the second category but have serious problems because ultimately you can’t choose the sex you’re born with so it’s unethical for me.

I’m almost 50/50 on that one but leaning towards yes because I don’t have a better solution for the scenario where you need it.

I fall decidedly into the No One Should Ever Be Drafted camp.
As I see it, this is a definite sign of slavery, when the state can override any objection you may have and force you to risk your life and kill fellow human beings in a war you may or may not have an interest in.
It doesn’t matter whether the cause is just or not. It may be today. But tomorrow it may not. Regardless, you can’t go home whenever you please when you’re drafted.
I think of it this way: The draft is worse than every other Big Government intrusion into your life. If you object to the government regulating how much soda you can put into your cup at McDonald’s, how much more should you object to something like the draft?
As for situations where you might want the draft… say, for national defense against an outright invasion… Honestly, if the nation is worth defending then people will volunteer to do so. If not, then they won’t. Simple as that. There is no cosmic law that says the United States of America should last until the end of time. Empires come and go.

Either have BOTH genders be subject to the draft or neither.
If women were only given the right to vote on the condition they were also subject to the draft from the very beginning, very few women would ever register to vote and governments would be a lot smaller and so would the welfare state.
Marriage: About as appealing as wood-chipper diving.
Anonymous25So… equality but only when it suits?
Men fought the last two world wars. Some stupid feminist shot her mouth off and said women in the last two wars had it tougher by staying home.
So, to show we respect women as equals they can go fight the next world war and we will stay home and have the difficult job.
The reality is, if Government tried to draft men, after the way they have treat men over the last 40+ years, most men are likely to refuse. I will conscientiously object and I expect the vast majority of other men will too.
I am against hypocrisy. If women truly want to weild the same authority as men, let them bear the same responsibility.
I suspect, however, that they do not and will not want that responsibility when it is offered to and/or thrust upon them… but, as with everything, I say let’s take them at their word and give it to them.
And yes, I would support registration for selective service as a requirement for enfranchisement for both women AND men. Refuse to serve… no right to vote. Simple as that.
CLAM ALERT. CLAM ALERT. CLAM ALERT.
When women lead, destruction is the destination. -- Me.
I’m from a country where it’s was mandatory 2 years to serve when you leave high school. Men only.
If a draft is ordered, yes but women belong no where near the battlefield. They are not foot soldiers and will only endangered the guy to the right and left.
Peace is > piece.
I am somewhere between 1 and 2. I absolutely think that if women want full equality to men, they need to register as well. However, I do not want money and effort spent on training and arming women only to have them killed and risk the lives of others unnecessarily.
I suppose I would like to see them put into some sort of effort towards winning a war, but I have no idea what that could be. Perhaps if we come to a time when we need a draft, any woman (or man) really who is unfit to serve in any capacity is heavily taxed and/or had voting rights removed. I don’t know.
I should say though that as a man in my 40s who’s no longer illegible for draft, I hold myself in a similar position. Although I do think I’m healthy enough to serve in some capacity, I would not be fit for front line work.
Overall, I think the draft doesn’t make as much sense today as in the past. Modern tech and recruitment should handle most needs. If we ever have a draft again in the US, it’s going to be because we’ve been invaded. Drafting may not be necessary because at that point, being in the military may be safer then being a civilian.
Ok. Then do it.
In the UK, they ended the draft (National Service) in the late fifties. Every now and then some people call for the draft to be re-instated to deal with all the wild (Fatherless), youth. The Army refuse to re-implement as they say they don’t want these f~~~ed up kids either. Thay want professional highly motivated servicemen. Not people grudgingly forced to participate.
It's Time to get Wise
As an add on to my previous comment, this series “Our War” documents why you need motivated professional men on the field, not slackers.
The later episodes deal with what awaited the men when they returned and how their PTSD was ignored by the military,

Thanks for your replies.
As you can see it’s difficult to have an opinion on the topic because our morals try to make us fair but that notion contradicts the nature of reality. Reality has no obligation to be fair, in fact it’s not. If anything I think this makes for wonderful discussion and it’s one of the biggest challenges of nowadays Moral standards to reach satisfactory consensus through logic.
The paradox of all this as that through direct fair treatment, you inherently create unfair conditions. So if you treat males and female the same, one will be subject to unfair treatment when having to perform an activity they’re less suited for than the other sex.

I always found it silly that feminists cry out “war is a mans game!” “It’s all there fault!”
Now they want to be the action heros, jedi’s and assassins in movies. Now they want to be marines and navy seals, while boys are being featured on teen girl fashion magazines. My only real objection is that once they have brought their vile habits to the ranks of our military, it will be pretty much the final nail in our coffin. I can only wonder at what my historical hero, Thomas Stonewall Jackson would say about this nonsense. Those are some battle worn shoes no woman could even dream of filling.

Let them get drafted if there ever is a day when that is needed. In this new era of weaponry I fear a war of that magnitude will take us to the point of no return.
I served in an Infantry unit in which women are not allowed, and for good reason. I have had this debate with multiple women, and they do not understand.

The other day I had a discussion. Women were saying, despite women being not able to comply with some military units, they can/should still be drafted for plenty of other roles such as logistics, radar monitoring, first-aid, etc.
What do you think about that ?

Give them everything they want.
The basic common training I went through in the Navy was co-ed. While some females could keep up with the theory side of things, it was always the chicks that dragged the guys down in the physical side.
Only let woman in to the armed forces if your happy to let men die when s~~~ gets real!I also pondered the advantageous psychological effect it would have on the enemy if they knew they were up against a woman inclusive force.
The best part of a woman is their inner beauty. If it's inner, beauty!!
There should be a draft or no draft.
If one group keeps dragging the others down (sounds familiar), then make them a separate group. When they realize they will only be dragging themselves down, they’ll come up with all sorts of solutions. Never tell someone how to do something. Internalize in them what must be accomplished, furnish the motivation in quality and quantity tailored for them and let them surprise you with their ingenuity.”

Anonymous0I don’t know. Will a female draft help eliminate divorce rape, fake rape, or false domestic violence claims?
