Smug Bastard

Recently, after being interrogated about my lack of female “company” and having provided the usual “healthier, wealthier and less stressed” responses with examples, I was accused of being “a smug bastard” by a married man and the women present fervently agreed.

I didn’t disagree, but I think it’s much more interesting what it says about them.

The married man recognised that I was in a good place and was happy about it, and, comparing it to his own existence felt the need to express his displeasure/jealousy.

The women present probably thought that I was being insulted and would feel offended and added their vacuous support to the comment, to express their outrage and the thought of a man operating outside of female control.

If being happy means having to be accused of being smug then I’ll take that any day over the tedium, stress and enslavement of marriage/relations~~~s.

Being a happy man is seen as a crime in some circles.

A good response to the “smug bastard” comment would have been “what’s so wrong with being happy? Aren’t you happy with your life?”.

A few years ago, as a married man I may have agreed with him or said the same thing.

Now, with a completely different perspective, I pity the men and respond to their questions on why I haven’t got a woman in the hope that some of them see sense and try and press the eject button with minimal damage. When their harpies aren’t present, they are decent blokes.

Lets just be real here. They WANT you to pay more taxes. They want you to be in their s~~~y little world so you have some steak in their lives.

Married couples benefit each other as a voting demographic. They can now also count on you being on their political sides as well. More people in the hive the better to them.

I want to bring up that in every single reaction of the interactions that follows this narrative, may I remind you that LOVE never comes into it?

Does that not bother anyone? Does that not tell you CLEARLY that there is zero care about YOU? And what would happen if you decided to throw down some FINE feminist logic that women are better off single and happier! How do they counteract that? They can’t!

Well why would that be? Are they not feeling happy enough in their relationships? I thought that being married was AMAZING, and who cares if other people are not? It’s so amazing to find your soulmate I thought. It seems of course, this is something that is now in full effect for women. Strange, from just about every account, women, the Media, the entire medical industry was happy to push that Women are happier single. Why is this a problem now?

And of course, WHAT do these men resort to? See, you would think that a couple would be so happy in their relationship that this question would never come up. In fact, if marriage was so valuable, so wonderful, why would something of such great value even be considered to be offered to anyone? It would be common knowledge that just like air, it is always a good deal. It has value. Rarely do you ever hear that people tell you to breath more air. Your body needs it.

So what about a relationship like Marriage, or a woman in your life? Why does it seem that women are only really fun in small tiny increments, and should be kept out of your life as a whole?

Many have been divorced, their kids have moved out, and they’re probably struggling to find work.

Some are also struggling to find a home.

This generation of women – the over 55s – is the fastest growing demographic among Australia’s homeless population.

I was talking to my dad this weekend about having enough money for retirement. He retired with no pension, no 401K, nothing but Social Security.
