Not 100% sure I’ve got the right forum, but here goes. Two days ago (on June 17th, 2015), a Swedish media outlet published this article: “Öppnar akutmottagning för våldtagna män”
Now, I realize most people don’t know Swedish, so I’ll translate the article below, as accurately as I can. And for the Discordians among us (if any) take note of the publishing date and time.

“Opens emergency room for raped men

This autumn an emergency room for rape victims will for the first time admit boys and men. It is the emergency room at Södersjukhuset in Stockholm.

Lotti Hellström, chief of medicine there, tells Ekot that it is important that men that become victims of sex crimes receive better support than they do today.

    – In public censuses we have seen that rape against men is extremely more common than you would believe, because the common view is, after all, that men can’t be raped. You also see in studies that the health consequences are bigger for men, both in regards to physical and mental health. There is a greater risk that a raped man suffers from posttraumatic stress disorder. There is such a great taboo that there falls a silence around the man who is victimised, says Lotti Helström.

Between 600 and 700 women a year seek out the emergency room for rape victims that has for ten years existed at Södersjukhuset in Stockholm. Here they have around-the-clock staff speciall trained to handle people suffered from rape. In mid-October they will also admit men and boys. According to calculations a couple men a month will seek out the emergency room.

    – The absolute majority of sexually victimised men are victimised by another man. It can be confusing for the personal identity and the sexual identity to have been thus victimised, and that is one of the hurdles we must face, says chief of medicine Lottie Helström

Last year around 370 incidents of rape against men and boys were reported, according to Brottsförebygganderådets (English: Crime Prevention Board’s) statistics. But they estimate that the real figure is much higher.

A phone census carried out by RFSU, Riksförbundet för sexuell upplysning (English: The National Union for Sexual Education), last year, where the one making the call pretended to be a man victimised by rape, showed that in many landsting (English, roughly: administrative counties) there was a lack of places where a man could receive emergency help after suffering rape, and also how the examination would be carried out.

According to chief of medicine Lotti Helström at the emergency room for rape victims at Södersjukhuset it is a question of justice that the emergency room also admits men.

    – It is an injustice that men do not receive the same service when victimised. They feel even worse than the women do and need a better reception than they have previously received, she says.”

A wonderful thing indeed. I hope it will continue …. and the funding is not threatened by ….. ummm … ‘social forces’ …. or certain government offices.

I want to celebrate this … I really do … but my stomach won’t let me feel 100% happy.

    Maybe im jaded 😕

Time will tell. At the very least it serves as an “awakening” of sorts for those (chiefly feminists) who refuse to admit that men can become victims, too.

I hope the “progressive” and “noble” feminists don’t shut this down.
