Skin care has its place, but skin care should only be looked into when skin becomes uncomfortable. Such as a rash, or dry skin.

I don’t have some posh article written up so forgive me. Here are some articles that show proof that a beard can stave off Skin cancer. Since it’s usually one of the most exposed parts on your body, (next to your hands) this does make sense.
Beards can reduce anywhere from 50-95 percent of the ultraviolet (UV) rays reaching the skin underneath, according to a study conducted by researchers in Australia Opens a New Window. . “Facial hair has an Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) Opens a New Window. of anywhere from 2 to 21,” says Alfio Parisi, one of the study’s authors and professor of radiation physics at University of Southern Queensland in Toowoomba.SOURCE:

https://doi.org/10.1093/rpd/ncr418Abstract
A dosimetric technique has been employed to establish the amount of erythemal ultraviolet radiation (UVR) protection provided by facial hair considering the influence of solar zenith angle (SZA) and beard–moustache length. The facial hair reduced the exposure ratios (ERs) to approximately one-third of those to the sites with no hair. The variation in the ERs over the different sites was reduced compared with the cases with no beard. The ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) provided by the facial hair ranged from 2 to 21. The UPF decreases with increasing SZA. The minimum UPF was in the 53–62° range. The longer hair provides a higher UPF at the smaller SZA, but the difference between the protection provided by the longer hair compared with the shorter hair reduces with increasing SZA. Protection from UVR is provided by the facial hair; however, it is not very high, particularly at the higher SZA.I really hate citing the Daily Mail, but they did buy the article and it does have a interview with one of the Doc’s that goes over a few other causes of skin disorders that can lead to cancer. More troubling is the amount of skin conditions that can reduced by just cleaning your skin thoroughly form things like Motor oil, (applies to grease monkeys everywhere) and simple dust and contaminants in the atmosphere embedding themselves in the top layer of the epidermis.
Now this is what got my attention, so far, I have seen many men on the Job site and others that grow beards and have had a tendency to suffer from higher amounts of skin irritation. Much of this is actually caused by not actually taking care of your BEARD. Seems odd, but men will often wash their head with soap but forget about the crap that can build up in your beard. Especially in Industrial environments.
How many young men today grow a beard cuz its TRENDY, just to find out that it actually causes discomfort OR EVEN SKIN INFECTIONS? Well, its odd, but the rate of younger males having skin conditions is growing.
This is one of the best articles I could find on the subject from a Legit source. Even though they seem to be more of a business. Well. I seem to trust business that care for their customers business when it comes to health.Another great article of the TWO.. Yes TWO they did on Men’s skin.
http://www.dermalinstitute.com/us/library/17_article_Is_a_Man_s_Skin_Really_Different_.html
Men also sweat more than twice as much as women and are more prone to sweating, which is stimulated by an increase in body temperature. However, male skin appears to be better hydrated than women’s, which is fortunate, as men are less likely to apply a hydrating moisturizer to their body or face. Perhaps the excess sweating and production of Lactic Acid, a known natural humectant for the skin, is responsible for the level of tissue hydration. Please take a look at these photos. Many of these things are just passed off as common items for men as they age. But as from what I have been finding, skin conditions in young men are increasing. Were talking about approaching that of the rate of young men working in boom of the Industrial age. Some of these items that young men are using today are taking place of a shower or even SOAP. Oddly enough, there is some trend going on that tells young men to just spray on the Funk and get on with your week. Well lets show you what that can lead do.
Basal Cell Carcinoma
About 8 out of 10 of all skin cancers are basal cell carcinomas (also called basal cell cancers). Basal cell cancers usually develop on areas exposed to the sun, especially the head and neck. They can appear as raised areas (like this one), and can be pale, pink, or red. They may have one or more abnormal blood vessels.Basal cell carcinomas can occur anywhere on the body. They can appear as flat, pale or pink areas, like this one. Larger basal cell carcinomas may have oozing or crusted areas.
Basal cell carcinomas may also appear as raised, pink or red, translucent, shiny, pearly bumps that may bleed after a minor injury. They may have a lower area in their center, and blue, brown, or black areas.
Basal cell carcinomas tend to grow slowly. It’s very rare for a basal cell cancer to spread to other parts of the body. But if a basal cell cancer is left untreated, it can grow into nearby areas and invade the bone or other tissues beneath the skin.
Basal cell carcinomas can also develop on the scalp, so it’s important to check your scalp when you check the rest of your body for any new marks or growths. Many doctors recommend doing this once a month
Basal cell carcinomas are more likely to develop in older people, but younger people also get them, probably because they are now spending more time in the sun with their skin exposed.
Men are more likely than women to develop basal cell carcinomas, but it’s important for anyone to get an unusual spot or growth checked by a doctor. Larger basal cell carcinomas may have oozing or crusted areas.
Basal cell carcinomas can sometimes be difficult to see, such as this one on the face. They can appear as pale, pink, or red, shiny or pearly bumps.
Basal cell cancers are often fragile and bleed easily. Sometimes they are found because people see a doctor about a “shaving cut” that doesn’t heal.

Actinic KeratosesAbout 2 out of 10 skin cancers are squamous cell carcinomas (also called squamous cell cancers). Some of these cancers start as actinic keratoses (AK), a skin pre-cancer seen here. AKs are usually small, rough or scaly flesh-colored patches that tend to start on sun-exposed areas. Most AKs don’t turn into squamous cell cancers, but it can be hard sometimes for doctors to tell AKs apart from true skin cancers, so they may advise treating them.
Bowens/Actinic Keratoses
Squamous cell carcinoma in situ, also called Bowen disease, is the earliest form of squamous cell skin cancer (SCC). Bowen disease usually appears as rough patches in sun-exposed areas, or sometimes in the skin of the anal or genital area. The patches tend to be larger, redder, and scalier than AKs. Bowen disease can be hard to tell apart from SCC and can sometimes progress to an invasive SCC, so doctors usually recommend treating it.
Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Squamous cell carcinomas may appear as flat reddish or brownish patches in the skin, often with a rough, scaly, or crusted surface. They tend to grow slowly and usually occur on sun-exposed areas of the body, such as the face, ears, neck, lips, and backs of the hands.Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Squamous cell carcinomas can also develop in scars or skin sores on any part of the body. Squamous cell cancers are more likely to grow into deeper layers of skin and spread to other parts of the body than basal cell cancers, although this is still uncommon.
Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Squamous cell skin cancers tend to grow slowly and can almost always be cured if found early. But if not treated, these cancers can grow into nearby areas or even spread to other parts of the body, where they can be much harder to treat.Normal mole
Almost everyone has some moles, and nearly all of them are harmless. A normal mole, like the one pictured here, is usually an evenly colored brown, tan, or black spot on the skin. It can be either flat or raised, round or oval. Melanoma is a cancer that begins in the cells that give skin its color. Normal moles also develop from these skin cells. But moles that are larger and have an abnormal shape or color can sometimes turn into melanoma.Melanoma
Melanoma is much less common than basal cell and squamous cell skin cancers, but it is far more dangerous. Like this one, melanomas may have different colors and jagged borders. They may not be round, and one half might not look like the other half.Melanoma
Melanomas can occur anywhere on the skin, but they are more likely to start in certain areas. The trunk (chest and back) is the most common site in men. The legs are the most common site in women. The neck and face are other common sites.Melanoma
Melanomas often look different from other spots on the skin. It’s very important to see a doctor if you have any new moles, moles that are growing or changing in any way, or moles that concern you for any other reason.Melanoma
Melanomas are usually brown or black, but some can appear pink, tan, or even white. Some melanomas have areas with different colors, and they might not be round like normal moles. They might grow quickly or even spread into the surrounding skin.Melanoma
Sometimes melanomas can grow in places that can be hard to spot, like this one on the heel of the foot. This is one reason it’s important to check all over your skin, preferably once a month. Melanomas aren’t common in people with darker skin, but when they do occur, they are more likely to be on the palms of the hands, soles of the feet, or under the nails.Sebhorreic Keratoses
Many types of benign (non-cancerous) tumors can grow on the skin. They do not usually cause serious problems. Still, if you notice any lumps, bumps, spots, sores, or other marks on your skin that are new or changing, or that worry you for any other reason, see a doctor so they can be identified and treated, if needed. Seborrheic keratoses are common benign (non-cancerous) skin growths. They often appear as tan, brown, or black raised spots with a waxy texture or rough surface. They are not contagious.Wart
Warts are benign (non-cancerous) growths on the skin caused by infection with the human papillomavirus (HPV). They usually appear as lumps or bumps with a rough surface. While warts are not cancer, they can be spread through skin contact.Wart
Warts are more common in areas where the skin was broken. For example, they can appear around the fingernails as a result of biting the nails or picking at hangnails.Wart
Warts on the bottom of the feet are known as plantar warts. They can be hard to treat because they grow inward. You are all alone. If you have been falsely accused of RAPE, DV, PLEASE let all men know about the people who did this. http://register-her.net/web/guest/home

Did it just get DARK in here?
Dr. A. Geronimo Jones
General/Cosmetic Dermatologist/Lubrication TechnicianThere is a good reason why I put him on here. He’s actually not some crank doctor. Now I can’t give him all the credit for this, but there are things that I found out from discusion and looking into the books for a few hours today. Thankfully, some WHITE DUDE gave a f~~~ enough to go to the bother of classifying the different kinds of skin and features that some of you poses.
Reason being not all of you will get Razor bumps from shaving. Some of you will get it so bad, it will make you miserable. There is reason for this.
Most of your Skin has Pigment Sure. But the types of hair grown are REALLY not the same. Actually, black skin is somewhat of a Special cottage industry all to itself. Why? Unlike what everyone has told you? Non of you bastards are from the same place. You may all look the same outside due to color, but overall, there is not one trait that all of you share.
Like it or not, your skin conditions are more rare only since your bodies cells have a natural adaptation to things like UV damage and a whole host of other conditions. I was actually surprised to find out that per capita, things like athletes foot affect you to less of a degree then white or asian males. However, this only applies if you do not get exposed to other types of fungas.
There is a fungus that Black men seem to be vulnerable to.
Coccidioidomycosis in African Americans
Coccidioidomycosis is caused by Coccidioides species, a fungus endemic to the desert regions of the southwestern United States, and is of particular concern for African Americans. We performed a PubMed search of the English-language medical literature on coccidioidomycosis in African Americans and summarized the pertinent literature.Search terms were coccidioidomycosis, Coccidioides, race, ethnicity, African, black, and Negro. The proceedings of the national and international coccidioidomycosis symposia were searched. All relevant articles and their cited references were reviewed; those with epidemiological, immunologic, clinical, and therapeutic data pertaining to coccidioidomycosis in African Americans were included in the review.
Numerous studies documented an increased predilection for severe coccidioidal infections, coccidioidomycosis-related hospitalizations, and extrapulmonary dissemination in persons of African descent; however, most of the published studies are variably problematic. The immunologic mechanism for this predilection is unclear. The clinical features and treatment recommendations are summarized. Medical practitioners need to be alert to the possibility of coccidioidomycosis in persons with recent travel to or residence in an area where the disease is endemic. It happens to be a BIG problem in California for some reason? Geographic distribution of coccidioidomycosis. Areas of heavy concentration (dark gray) are in the San Joaquin Valley of California and in the Sonoran desert of Arizona.
Life cycle of Coccidioides (Saprophytic cycle left, Parasitic cycle right).
Sample of what it looks like. NOt much out there about it either.
5. Pseudofolliculitis Barbae (as known as razor bumps)
Pseudofolliculitis barbae is a foreign-body inflammatory reaction surrounding ingrown facial hairs, which results from shaving. It can also occur on any body site where hair is shaved or plucked, including axilla, pubic area, and legs.It is also known as shaving rash or razor bumps. Prevalence of folliculitis barbae and pseudofolliculitis barbae is higher among males of African ancestry than among Caucasian men. Both disorders can also affect women of all races. They are associated with improper shaving practices.
Razor Bumps are more of a problem with Black skin

FOOT FUNGUS.
Sure there are a Bunch out there. But DAMN, THE BEST one that I have used? BIG CLIVE came up with.
Video Synopsis
This video is for all the guys and gals who have to endure “safety” footwear at work. Having your feet baked in heavy industrial shoes and boots all day can have serious effects on the health of your feet. Ramblers and other outdoor adventurers will also benefit from this information.
There’s nothing glamorous about work boots at all. They may have a stylish industrial image, but if you wear them for long periods of time in wet or hot conditions then they can quickly become quite unhygienic to say the least.
This is where two very common old-skool medical treatment chemicals come to the rescue. Potassium Permanganate and boric acid.
Lets start with potassium permanganate. It’s widely available on eBay because it has many uses in sterilisation and treatment of water, notably in Koi tanks. But in our case we will use it to bring any angry skin on our feet under control and kill any bacteria or infection that might be causing issues.
Get a decent plastic bucket that you can fit your feet in. A plastic mop bucket is good. Put in some hot water and dissolve a VERY SMALL amount of potassium permanganate in it and top up with warm water to make a nice deep foot soak. Note that the water should be a soft pink colour. Don’t make the solution so strong that it becomes a dark purple, as it will stain your feet. Then put a towel on the floor, put the bucket on it, sit down, stick your feet in the water and surf the Internet or watch TV as your feet start to heal. When your feet have had a really good soak and the water is getting a bit cold then take your feet out and towel them dry. Note that the water will no longer be vibrant pink/purple, but will now be a brown colour. That’s just the result of normal oxidation.
Potassium permanganate soaks are a very old remedy that seems to have a profound effect in helping control very angry skin conditions. Even ones that have you at the point of despair.
If your skin is bad then do these soaks every evening until your feet clear up. But do not use the soaks on a regular basis once the skin has healed.
Things worthy of note. Potassium permanganate is a strong oxidiser and should be kept in a glass or plastic bottle away from liquids that may react with it. It also stains everything it touches an exciting shade of brown.
Next comes Boric Acid. It’s a very weak acid that comes in a granular powder form or as a fine dust. It doesn’t actually taste the slightest bit acidic and has a multitude of uses, mainly in insect and fungal control. If you have a major issue with the various fungal conditions that affect human feet then a simple sprinkle of this cheap and readily available chemical in your footwear will absolutely kill all fungal issues in your footwear and on your skin. Seriously. Athlete’s foot gone and no stinky boots again. It’s that effective. And to give you an idea of how safe it is, it is used as a steriliser in eye-wash solutions and eye drops. And that’s really it. The two natural remedies that could help you recover from the foot damage caused by long hours in “safety” footwear. I wish I’d known about these remedies in the past. Instead I had the expensive medicated foot powders pushed on me and used them to no avail for a very long time.
8 lb bag BORIC ACID best deal I found. Even better then Ebay.
Here are some other methods that folks have used, but Big CLives method worked for me. And Man, I only did it a few times. Not bad.

Your heart and your skin
Now looking at your skin can give you good indications of the condition of your heart. I’m not going to go to much into this. We got 3 docs here, so F~~~ it. THey can do . But.. here are some things to know about your TIcker.
Heart disease: 12 warning signs that appear on your skin
Swelling in your feet and lower legs
What it may be telling you: Your heart isn’t working properly.
Many diseases of the heart cause fluid to build up in your feet and lower legs. As the fluid builds up, you may see swelling, which can extend as far as the upper legs and groin.
Medical name: Edema (medical term for swelling)
Blue or purple color on your skin
What it may be telling you: You have a blockage in a blood vessel.
When you’re extremely cold, your skin can turn blue (or purple). If an area of your skin is blue (or purple) when you’re warm, that’s can be a sign your blood isn’t getting enough oxygen. The patient in this photo has a condition known as blue toe syndrome, which happens when one or more blood vessels are blocked.
Without treatment, the lack of oxygen can cause the skin and underlying tissue to eventually die.
Medical name: Cyanosis (refers to the bluish color on the skin)
Blue or purple netlike pattern on your skinWhat it may be telling you: You have a blocked artery.
Some people see this pattern on their skin when they feel chilly. When their skin warms up, this pattern disappears. It’s also possible to see this pattern when taking certain medications. If one of these is causing the netlike pattern, it’s usually nothing to worry about.
This netlike pattern can also be a sign of a disease called cholesterol embolization syndrome, which occurs when small arteries become blocked. The blockage can lead to damaged tissues and organs, so it’s important to see a doctor to find out whether you have an undiagnosed disease.
Medical name: Livedo reticularis (medical term for the netlike pattern)
Yellowish-orange, waxy growths on your skin
What it may be telling you: You have unhealthy cholesterol levels.
If you see yellowish-orange growths on your skin, you may have deposits of cholesterol under your skin. These painless deposits can appear in many areas, including the corners of your eyes, lines on your palms, or the backs of your lower legs.
If you notice these growths on any area of your skin, see your doctor. You may need cholesterol testing or another medical test. Unhealthy cholesterol levels require treatment, which can prevent life-threatening heart disease. Getting your cholesterol levels under control may also help clear the growths on your skin. If the growths don’t clear, a board-certified dermatologist can treat them.
Medical name: Xanthelasma (cholesterol deposits on the eyelids), Xanthoma (cholesterol deposit found elsewhere on the skin)
Clusters of waxy bumps that suddenly appear on your skin
What it may be telling you: You have skyrocketing cholesterol levels or diabetes.
The sudden appearance of these bumps can look like a rash, warts, or a contagious skin condition called molluscum contagiosum. These bumps are actually fatty deposits of cholesterol caused by extremely high levels of triglycerides (type of cholesterol) in the blood.
Treatment is essential to lower the triglycerides and treat any serious medical conditions, such as heart disease caused by the high cholesterol levels.
Medical name: Eruptive xanthoma (refers to the sudden appearance of many fatty deposits of cholesterol)
Nails curve downward and the ends of your fingers are swollen
What it may be telling you: You may have a heart infection, heart disease, or lung problem.
For many people, these signs are harmless. That said, if your fingers and nails look like this, it’s best to find out if you may have a medical condition, such as lung disease or a heart problem.
Medical name: Clubbing (term describes the downward turned nails and swollen fingers)
Red or purple lines under your nails
What it may be telling you: Most people who see these lines under their nails have injured the nail in some way. If you cannot remember injuring your nail, you may want to see your doctor. These lines can be a sign of heart disease or another condition.
When it’s a sign of heart disease, people tend to have symptoms, such as high fever and a weak or irregular heartbeat.
Medical name: Splinter hemorrhage (line often looks like a splinter stuck under the nail)
Smooth, waxy lumps on your skin
What it may be telling you: You have protein deposits in your heart or another organ.
These waxy lumps can appear anywhere on the skin. They often indicate that there’s an abnormal buildup of protein in an organ, such as your heart. If protein builds up in the heart, it’s hard for the heart to work properly.
Medical name: Nodules of systemic amyloidosis (“nodule” means lump and amyloidosis refers to the type of protein that has built up)
Painful lumps in your fingers, toes, or both
What it may be telling you: You have an infection in your heart or blood vessels.
If you have a heart infection known as infective endocarditis, these painful lumps can develop in your fingers, toes, or both places. The lumps can last for a few hours to several days.
While the lumps go away on their own, patients need treatment for the infection. Because this infection is caused by bacteria, antibiotics can often treat it. Sometimes, surgery is also necessary.
Medical name: Osler nodes. A doctor named Osler discovered the connection between a patient having these lumps, which are now called Osler nodes, and a heart infection.
Brownish (or reddish) discoloration, usually on your sole(s) or palm(s)
What it may be telling you: You have an infection in your heart or blood vessel.
The spots that developed on the bottom of this patient’s foot are also a sign of a heart infection called infective endocarditis. Unlike Osler nodules, these spots are painless. These spots will clear without treatment, usually in a few days or weeks. The infection requires treatment.
Medical name: Janeway lesions, which are named after an American doctor, Theodore Caldwell Janeway.
Non-itchy rash (flat spots with slightly raised edges) and fever
What it may be telling you: You have rheumatic fever.
If your child develops strep throat, treating it quickly is important. When it’s not treated quickly, other medical problems can develop. One such problem is rheumatic fever. While this seldom happens in the United States today, rheumatic fever is common in developing countries.
When a child has rheumatic fever, it can lead to lifelong heart disease. Rheumatic fever is a leading cause of heart disease in children.
Medical name: Erythema marginatum (name of the rash shown in this picture)
Rash and cracked, swollen lips that often bleed
What it may be telling you: A child has Kawasaki disease.
When a child has a rash, fever, and extremely dry lips that may crack and bleed, Kawasaki disease is a likely cause. This disease, which affects the blood vessels, usually develops in children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years of age.
While Kawasaki disease may go away on its own within 12 days without treatment, it can lead to serious side effects, such as heart disease.
Medical name: Mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome (another name for Kawasaki disease)
Other signs that appear on the skin and can be a warning sign of heart disease, include:
A gray ring around the colored part of your eye
Changes to your tongue, such as it swelling and turning red as a strawberry
Discolored skinIf you notice any of these signs, make an appointment to see your primary doctor and try to stay calm. The sign could be harmless, but it’s important to get it checked out. Heart disease is easier to treat when found early.

Went to a dermatologist because I had a red bump on my forehead that wouldn’t go away and also a rash on my ears. She took a biopsy and told me it could be skin cancer. Biopsy came back negative for skin cancer but that it was Lupus. I never heard of Lupus before, she told me I would need to get a blood test to determine if it was just skin lupus or systemic affecting my internals. Luckily the blood test confirmed it was not systemic and I was prescribed a simple steroid cream which helped clear it up – except it came back and is more resistant to the steroids. It is activated by the sun so now I have to be very cautious about going in the sun without sunscreen or protection.
