My mother used to do that. She would fly into extremely intense, cold rages and wouldn’t speak for days. She used it to bully people around her.

When I was first married and she pulled that schit on me, I was young and dumb and thought, “Aw man, she’s mad. I have to do something to make her happy again.” How stupid was that?

I eventually learned and when she got quiet and left the room mad, I always had a big smile on my face and thought, “Alright, don’t have to hear her stupid mouth for a while.”

Now I don’t ever have to hear or see her again and it’s really great.

This reminded me of an experience years ago on a mini-vacation with an old ex girlfriend.

The morning of the last day, she was mad (over what I don’t even remember).
She says “I’m not talking to you until you say you’re sorry” (again, I don’t remember why)
We start driving back home, which was going to take about 6 hours.
For 3/4 of the way, she glared out the side window, she never said a word.
Suddenly, her cell phone rang. (it was a flip phone, this was before smart phones and internet data plans)
Instantly, she was the happiest person on earth, talking and laughing and smiling with the person on the phone.
(It was one of her sisters, I recognized the voice)
When she hung up, she turned to me and smiled because she wanted to tell me the news that her sister told her.
She then remembered that she wasn’t talking to me, so she quickly frowned and turned back toward the side window.
After about 20 minutes, she quietly asks (still facing the window) “Aren’t you going to talk to me?”
I responded with “Nope”
Under her breath I hear “asshole”.
I say “I love you too”
Silence the rest of the way home.
I pull up to her apartment, she gets out, grabs her bag from the back seat, and walks inside.
I never heard or saw her again.

Women, they all behave just like children. She initiates the silence, then gets mad at you because of your silence. Stupid childish b1tches.
