Shilling for The Good Life

Normally I wouldn’t do something like this, but I’ve been following Hidetaka Suehiro for a while, and his new kickstarter project looks interesting.

Unfortunately it only has a few days left to meet its goal and I’m not very optimistic. This video isn’t the best representation of the demo but it’s played by the guys who introduced me to Deadly Premonition, another game from Swery.

Not certain how many here know of either. Basically Deadly Premonition was a bit close to an outright adaptation of Twin Peaks. Since it got cancelled around the time I was just a baby, I’d only watched it after playing DP, so I might have a bit of a bias, but I think it was just as good. Perhaps not as a polished game, but as a story. Especially considering how The Return was and not being sure if it was good or bad.

Anyway, The Good Life seems to have had criticism of DP taken into consideration, with more stylized graphics as well as quality over quantity in level design. I’m very apologetic about DP’s faults but I can’t deny this looks better.

Perhaps not everyone’s cup of tea, doesn’t seem to fit the usual trends with weapons, enemies, etc. Just thought I’d share.
