The sheriff’s deputy who was on duty at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School but failed to go in and confront the gunman has resigned to avoid being suspended.

    I am divided on this.

You have a man that had a job to do. He did not even try.

MGTOW me thinks, take a bullet for other peoples spawn? Oh, Hell, No!

The practical me thinks, taking on a loon with a semi-auto rifle with nothing more than a side-arm? F~~~ that s~~~.

More Splits, the deputy was trained. He signed up for the s~~~ and got paid to do what no sane person would.

He resigned and is eligible for retirement which tells me he was not a youngster.

    Gonna channel Venom here. Thoughts?

    My 2 cents

This is looking from hind sight, of course you’ll find errors. During that time, lots of what if questions come up. We don’t really know how much information the deputy know at the time. I also think “Don’t be a hero” is common sense here.

I am not judging one way or the other. I am not him and I was not there.

    Something else to consider…….
Even if the Deputy was wearing body armor, chances are it would not have stopped a .223.

Pete, chime in if I get s~~~ f~~~ed-up.

Military body armor includes steel plates, front and back. These plates make the armor heavy and uncomfortable.

The body armor that cops wear may or may not have these steel plates and if it does, many cops may not deploy them.

The high velocity of the .223 renders Kevlar vest useless, w/o the steel plates.
In other words, civilian body armor is ok for handgun rounds but s~~~e against, high velocity (or high power) rifle rounds.

So again, an old man, out gunned and MAYBE inadequate protection but still with a job todo.

See above, I am not judging just curious to what y’all think.

Broward law enforcement is severely messed up, has been a long time.

They successfully found a useful scapegoat.

A male scapegoat. A female leo who did the same thing, would not resign on her own, nor would anyone call for her to resign. Shes just a woman, she would not go charging in there, why would you expect her to do that?

    Thats what I think.

Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.

I’m not judging the man, don’t know enough specifics. But in general, I think you have to go in.

Maybe you go in a side-door away from the gun fire and make your way toward it, hoping for a clear shot. Maybe you just let off a clip and hope the shooter hears it and knows someone is coming. Who knows, its not a swat team, just one guy, I understand. Not everyone wants or has it in them to be the hero.

But you are there, it’s your job, part of wearing the badge and why you have the right to use deadly force. There are kids being killed, you have a gun, a duty.

That day……..the s~~~……it fell to you. I think you go in.

How can a woman be expected to be happy with a man who insists on treating her as if she were a perfectly normal human being.

Agree with Romulus. Once you put on the badge and start getting pay checks I think you have an obligation to try to serve and protect. If you don’t want to risk your neck don’t put on the badge. I don’t know the specifics of this instance, if he did fail to act knowing there was a shooter in the school I think the criticism of him is correct. Would feel the same if the officer in question was female.

    serve and protect.

    Devils Advocate Time.
Serve and Protect is a moto, not a job requirement.

Again, not judging. Just being a prick I guess.

Police have no obligation or duty to protect you or any other person from death or violence. Courts have already ruled that a log time ago.

The only thing law enforcement is suppose to do is what they are told to do. And that’s to make your life miserable.

And do what the chief says to do.

I really don’t feel one way or the other about it. Besides. If there is a real problem, they don’t go in. If anything, Being a cop or a sheriff is just Therapy for those that need to have a way to take out aggression, or not feel subjected to the f~~~ed up laws.

You are all alone. If you have been falsely accused of RAPE, DV, PLEASE let all men know about the people who did this. http://register-her.net/web/guest/home
