Most here may know cats have bad bacteria and parasites, either passed down from already infected cats, or if they are allowed outdoors, from contaminated sources they eat or come in contact with. (Try explaining that to a woman who wuvs her kitty and thinks its cruel to keep them indoors and off others property.)

    Anywhoo,

Toxoplamsa gondii. Parasite cats pick up easily from stuff they would eat outdoors or even raw meat fed to them by the owner. They can pick it from from the soil, from other animals excretions. Serious enough for many reputable medical sources to warn pregnant women not to be around or their baby can suffer brain damage from it.

It also can damage a womans (or anyones) brain and be a catalyst for mental problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder and other rage disorders. And increase a persons more aggressive risks/behavior. Reports say it raises risk of schizophrenia from the average 1%, to 2-3%. Further, doctors cite data that indicate the severity of schizophrenia symptoms from toxoplasma is stronger than other types of schizophrenia from other reasons.

Serious medicine journals have written about this problem. I doubt very few women who are cat owners are ever checked to see if they have toxoplasma antibodies.

We could be dealing with many brain damaged people suffering from self-induced mental problems just because they have cats and let them roam outdoors being exposed to various disease vectors.

Think about how so many guys post here about women they dealt with who were bipolar and on meds, or should have been on meds. Think about the ones who were never diagnosed but sure acted like they were bipolar. How many had cats?

Why the warnings to pregnant women but not the same level of concern for other people regarding the brain damage and mental illnesses it can cause? Are they just too happy to allow it to occur, and possibly fuel the 60 bilion dolar a year divorce industry in America? And fuel the pharmaceutical industry that makes billions off prescription meds for controlling mental illness?

You would think that the first test to be done for a woman with cats suffering from mental illness – hell, maybe anyone living with cats or dealing with cats and their literpans – would be a check to see if they have toxoplasma antibodies in their blood. Of course other factors like head injuries or other things can cause mental illness/brain damage but if they have cats or are around cats, seems like something that ought to be looked at.

Women want everything, but want responsibility and accountability for nothing.

This is something I watch for. I don’t have any indoor pets, however, whenever I deal with stray outdoor animals .. such as handling or touching any container that they might have drank from .. I always wash my hands or sometimes even wear protective gloves .. such as when cleaning up an area where wild or strays might have been without my knowledge. We have lots of raccoon, possum, stray cats, bobcats, coyote, fox and skunks around here .. even some bear and certainly the ever present deer ‘I see their tracks in the yard right next to the house’ .. so I’ve just adopted a policy where i always assume they probably touched any water vessel or other container near buildings. Tics are also something I watch for here. I tend to use caution for any animal transmitted disease possibilities everywhere because the creatures, along with the stray cats are .. basically ever present where I go around these parts.

Glad you posted this. I have one cat and one dog. The cat is 14 and will only live a couple more years max. I have been thinking about whether to replace him as its nice to have two animals but have been getting tired of feline behaviour. This cinches it for me. No more cats in the future.
