Novorussia is breaking away from an agonizing Ukraine

This summary is from an article written by the Saker for the Unz Review:
    http://www.unz.com/tsaker/the-donbass-is-breaking-away-from-an-agonizing-ukraine/

    Novorussia

In late February 2017, following the imposition of a total economic blockade against Novorussia by the Ukronazis to force surrender – Russia declared that henceforth only the official documents emitted by the Donbass People’s Republic (DNR) and Lugansk People’s Republic (LNR) authorities will be recognised instead of those of the Ukrainian central government under the neo-Nazi regime of Poroshenko.

The Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics are self-proclaimed states in the Donetsk Oblast of Ukraine recognized only by the partially recognized Republic of South Ossetia. They receive humanitarian and military backing from Russia. Donetsk and Luhansk form an unrecognized confederation of Novorossiya, referencing the corresponding historical region and this name.

The Ukrainian government has designated them as terrorist organizations / states and at war with the illegal US & EU backed Kiev junta.

On 18 February 2017 President Vladimir Putin ordered Russian authorities to recognize identity documents, diplomas, birth and marriage certificates and vehicle registration plates as issued by the DPR and NPR until a “political settlement of the situation” in separatist-controlled regions based on the Minsk II agreement is reached.

The Russian decision enabled people living in DPR & LPR controlled territories to travel, work or study in Russia. According to the decree it was signed “to protect human rights and freedoms” in accordance with “the widely recognized principles of international humanitarian law.”

Ukrainian authorities decried the decision as being directly contradictory to the Minsk II agreement and that it “legally recognised the quasi-state terrorist groups which cover Russia’s occupation of part of Donbas.”

In early March 2017 the Novorussian authorities nationalized all the key factories of the Donbass. The Novorussians have declared that since the Ukrainian authorities are not willing to purchase their coal and anthracite they will from now on export them to Russia. Just to make sure that they cover all their bases, the Novorussians have also declared that from now on only the Russian Ruble will be circulating in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.

Not to be undone, the Ukronazis have also taken a highly significant step – the Ukrainian Prime Minister has declared that he thinks that the irregular forces currently enforcing the blockade should be considered official border guards.

For these soon to be “border guards”, their main border posts are to be called “Nightingale” in honour of the Nachtigall battalion of the Nazi Abwehr.

By the start of the 2015-2016 school-year DNR’s Ukrainian language lessons were decreased from around eight hours a week to two hours; while the time devoted to Russian language and literature lessons were increased. The history classes were changed to give greater emphasis to the history of Donbass and Russia.

The grading system in schools has been changed from Ukraine’s 12-point scheme to Russia’s five-point grading system. School graduates will receive a Russian certificate, allowing them to enter both local universities and institutions in Russia.

In April 2016 DPR authorities designed “statehood awareness lessons” were introduced in schools (in territory controlled by them).

    Let’s sum all this up:

-The Urkonazis completely close down the unofficial border with Novorussia after the economic blockade fails to achieve a surrender or a negotiation in their favour
-Russia recognizes Novorussian documents as legal and binding
-The DNR and LNR nationalise all the Ukrainian industry in the Donbass
-The Ukronazis declare that the line of contact is now to be considered a border
-The Novorussians declare that the Russian Ruble is the only legal currency in Novorussia
-The Novorussians will now export their entire production of coal/anthracite to Russia
-All the factories in Novorussia will no longer pay taxes to Kiev.
-Schooling system changes effected to tie-in with Russian education criteria.

This undeniably looks like Novorussia cutting off their last ties to the Ukraine – and the the junta in Kiev appears to be going along with this plan. It appears Kiev cannot continue a war that is helping to bleed them dry economically, along with loss of support from the US-EU globalists as these backers tackle their own problems at home.

Like Crimea – it is entirely possible this is a first step to a reunification of these states with Russia. Unlike Crimea – the manner in which this is being done cannot be disputed by the western powers as a direct annexation of Ukraine territories by Russia.

There are many unanswered questions, including how and if the Novorussians will sell their production of coal and anthracite either to Russia (which Russia really doesn’t need) or through Russia (possibly concealing its real origin) to China.

This situation also begs the question of what the Russian banks will be able and willing to do to help the Novorussians. The sums of money involved are huge and there are many, often mutually exclusive, interests competing against each other. However it appears that both Novorussia and Russia seem to agree this is possible and minor hurdles to ultimate reunification.

One can judge of the seriousness of these developments by the truly Herculean efforts made by the western corporate media not to notice these agreements from all sides. Even the British Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, the evil Boris Johnson, who was in Kiev on 3rd March, was focusing exclusively on the upcoming Eurovision competition, and not on the dramatic developments taking place in the southeast.

The blockade of the Donbass was decided by a rather small group of nationalist leaders in Kiev who never asked for, or received, any authorisation for their actions and the junta never officially endorsed or even supported that move.

Most amazingly, the junta never sent any kind of official police/military/security force to regain control of the situation after the blockade action started.

Keeping in mind that there are tens of thousands of soldiers and policemen deployed in the immediate vicinity of these volunteer units causing the blockade – but nobody, absolutely nobody- has made a move to restore the status quo. It appears that policy-wise and people-wise there is a mass consensus on the separation from all concerned.

The Ukraine is a failed state, politically, economically and culturally. As a failed state, the Ukraine has plenty of armed gangs and even official armed forces, but nothing like the kind of modern and civilized military you need to take on the Novorussians. Far from being a failed state, Donbass and Lugansk are young states which have just completed the modernisation of their armed forces.

The difference between the Ukrainian and the Novorussian armed forces is not just the result of Russian help (although they clearly play a major role) but the fact the Novorussians have a capable fighting force as a matter or survival from Day One, whereas for the junta in Kiev this war has never been a priority simply because there never was a military threat directed to the junta’s power base.

Bean-counters will say that the Ukrainian forces are about two to three times larger, which is quite true. It is also irrelevant. What matters is whether they can mount modern, combined arms operations – and that is something that the Ukrainian military has not been capable of.

What we are seeing today is not just a Ukrainian military which seems to have given up on the notion of reconquering Novorussia, it is also one which appears to be giving up on the notion of holding the country together. Right now, this is only affecting the Donbass region , but pretty soon other regions are likely to follow suit, especially the south (Odessa, Nikolaev, Mariupol) which, by themselves, could be wealthy and prosperous and which have no need whatsoever for Neo-Nazi rulers in Kiev. There are even some separatist movements in the west of Ukraine on the border with Poland who want to get rid of all the pseudo-Ukrainian “ballast” and build a “pure” Ukrainian state.

This all begs the question of the future of Poroshenko and here your guess is as good as anyone’s. The only thing which kept the junta in power so long is the total support from the USA and EU, but with the crises surrounding the Trump administration and the political uncertainty in Europe, there is only so far Poroshenko can use his western mentors as the base for his power.

Sooner or later, somebody somewhere in the Ukraine (possibly in Odessa) will figure out that the local power configuration is far more important and follow suit. The fragmentation will escalate as the political and economic situation worsens and the currency inflates or defaults.

Again, Somalia is the example to keep in mind: for a while the western powers also had a great deal of influence there, but only until that power was successfully challenged and then everybody declared victory and fled.

It is actually quite remarkable that it took so long to bring about this last phase. For many months we had many minor indicators and signs that thing were not going well, but with the de-facto separation of the Donbass and its gradual integration into the Russian economy we are witnessing a qualitatively new escalation in the disintegration process of the Ukraine.

The Russians cleaned up Chernobyl and quarantined much of Belarus, it’s their people that are radioactive from the disaster, let them have the place! We’re stuck with a radioactive ocean, perhaps they’ll want Fukushima? Give them that too! Russian people are preparing to survive a nuclear holocaust, same as the the elites in the west, except we’re not invited to their bomb shelters, we’re only invited to foot the bill and pay with our lives for all their mistakes!

The West is the new world evil of elites that needs to be annihilated!

    Хай живе Україна!!!

Not sure if I want the West to continue its downward spiral into sexual immorality, unchecked feminism, unrestricted influx of the third world and muslim barbarians. This is not what I imagined the West to become for the 21st century.

Reading “The New Tsar” at the moment. It’s a biography of Putin. Makes you realise how soft our Western leaders have become. All this political correctness and liberalism is a slippery slope to destruction of order. Money on Russia to go from strength to strength as a global power.

Russia is a patriarchy. It is in their genes. They know the collective importance of how family and religion shape countries.

In Russian I have been told there is no word for ‘safe’ or ‘safety’. The transliteration is ‘absence of a threat’. Russians have always been at war. They know how to fight and how to win.

I don’t know much about this issue but I know insightful commentary when I see it. Keep up the good work, Yumbo
Question for you. How do you see this affecting the PM’s?

    Hi M52

PM’s are usually related inversely to the price of the dollar. If funds and individuals get more returns of dollar assets they will move their cash into the bond market or the stock market and out of PM’s. Only if there is a loss on the dollar or stock market the affected party will try to move into PM’s. PM’s are a flight to safety.

Once inflation overcomes growth (from too much money printing) then PM’s will start to rise as confidence in dollar asset returns drops.

Therefore short term – demand for the dollar is high all over the world so PM’s cannot rise much. Since Trump came into office the belief he will get the economy moving again has caused the dollar to hit highs and PM’s to drop further. The market still has belief that the dollar is good.

In the case of Ukraine Venezuela etc this will drive up the dollar and sometimes PM’s as well. Some people now are nervous about the USD and there is also a dollar shortage. This is very unusual but happens

In fact with other countries reaching high levels of debt the knee jerk reaction is to invest in treasuries and USD assets which drives up the price of the dollar and drops PM price.

So PM’s won’t rise much with a strong dollar short term – maybe slightly.

I don’t expect this to change until inflation starts picking up significantly. The signs are there that inflation is back on course in the EU. Anything more than 2% is a problem.

In the longer term in my view we will be reaching a point where inflation cannot be stopped easily and the Fed will try to use higher interest rates to slow down the dollar demand. Usually this results in some companies going bust and a stock market crash. In the near future I believe there will be a big one.

PM’s under inflation or in a market crash will do very well and rise or spike – sometimes overnight. This crash is expected to happen within this decade.

Another scenario is the debt default by the US Government. This is the worst case scenario for the USD. At $20 trillion there are people who say the US is reaching the limit of paying back the interest on this.

Once confidence goes on the USD then again PM’s will do well. There is a consensus that this will happen after the next stock market crash when the Fed will try to print money like the last time in 2008 and it doesn’t work.

I will write on this in more detail in the coming weeks. I hope this helps somewhat.

Ukraine is one place where the whole ‘Trump and Russia’ are friends thing will be collapse. Syria is another. And Iran a third. One man cannot serve two masters. Trump is trying to keep Putin and and the Zionist rulers of the west happy at the same time. And its not going to work. The Zionists have every intention of escalating tensions with Russia on several fronts. Russia may have helped Trump win the election in the hope he would put an end to Zionist provocation. But it seems not to be. 5 Russian diplomats have already been assassinated. The most recent one was during Trumps term. It’s pure provocation. Trump is in awkward position as the Zionists will take him out if he does not dance to their tune. This is what happened to JFK when he threatened to cut off American welfare money to Israel. Trumps cabinet recently assured tens of billions to Israel every year.
Either way the likely hood of ww3 is going up again. British and American forces have been position in eastern Europe. China has bee increasing activity in the Pacific and Indian ocean to name a few.

    Good for Novorussia.

It is every man’s right to associate with whomever he chooses, and if the people there wish to no longer be affiliated with the corrupt, puppet state of Ukraine, then they should be encouraged to go their own way.

Just like the men here. 🙂

The Ukraine issue has the potential of unraveling the EU. Russia will not permit Ukraine to retake Novorussia, and the West’s grand scheme for regime change in Ukraine to undermine Russia went sideways. I wonder what the deep state will try next.

Yumbo, as usual a thoughtful, provocative analysis and excellent evaluation of the situation. I know this is heresy but I think Russia is the only hope left for the west. I know I know with a GNP roughly equivalent to Spain they aren’t really a super-power except for their nukes.

Thank you Pete. Not heresy at all my friend. The Russians and their neighbours are probably the last bastion of Western Civilisation – which took the world out of the Dark Ages.

I have no doubt Europe will face anarchy as the muslims start their insurrections and neo-Crusades. Europe after the original Crusades was much stronger and this will be the case now.

I hate to say it but sometimes the disease has to run its course for the body to survive.
