Marriage now reminds me of those people who buy “mystery boxes”. They spend good money on a bunch of JUNK no-one else wanted thinking they got a great value and now have to peddle it all off on the cheap. What they wind up with is a warehouse full of JUNK THEY DON’T WANT, and will do almost anything to get rid of it, (Almost always losing the initial investment I might add).

Who needs purple earmuffs for their dog, ….. or bean-bag ashtrays ??

In the early 90s, I used to buy “mystery boxes” of surplus electronic components. Around 1999, I decided to clean out my old junk and got rid of most of the stuff. Now I wish I’d kept more of it — they contained probably dozens of “vintage” germanium transistors that the guitar effects pedal DIY people now go nuts for (not very “good” parts by objective standards, but they are purported to have characteristics that give a better distortion sound than modern silicon transistors).

Oh, well. Still far cheaper than marriage… I spent about 600x as much on my divorce as I did on the junk boxes (and that’s taking inflation into account).
