Anyone else ever do anything like this? There’s a pretty big speed running community at least, and within that are a lot of different qualifiers, between tool assisted or glitched or done in certain ways, etc. The Metroid series seems particularly popular for this niche.
I watched a speed run of Breath of the Wild that took someone just 40 minutes to complete. Of course I’d managed to get to the final boss room on my first time playing, so it’s not impossible with normal play, but I took the long way around, whereas this guy did stuff with the games’ physics I had no idea were possible, pretty much flying across half the world.
So needless to say, that in itself is pretty intimidating to me. So I’ve decided to try and do a play through without ever putting any clothes or armor on. I’m uncertain which parts require certain armors but I guess I’ll see. I’ve done 3 heart runs in the series before, especially proud of a 6 heart hero mode run in Skyward Sword with no deaths, but this game doesn’t seem quite so doable with enemies that can one shot you later on.
Not exactly a consistent challenge but I enjoyed seeing which levels in Mario Galaxy I could get through without the seemingly mandatory power ups. Might try to do that in Galaxy 2 but I haven’t finished it at all yet.
I suppose I did ghost through Metal Gear Solid 3 in order to get the stealth camo. At least on normal difficulty it was not too bad but still nice to know I achieved that.
I generally play Bethesda games on very easy just because I don’t think the combat is very good anyway, but in Fallout New Vegas I tried going entirely unnarmed at least.

Yeah, games like Skyrim where you just avoid the main quest and just walk the wilderness looking for trouble and systematically ticking off as many of the areas as possible. Freedom in games goes a long way to maintaining interest. Looking to jump into Elder Scrolls online next as I have good memories playing these style of games. I won’t be trying to max out my character and be competitive, just play it for fun, and if its stops being fun dump it.

Sounds cool for sure.
I’ve done a few similars things on Far Cry 3. I’ve played it about 15-16 times or so.
Some games were played without purchasing anything in the game (using weapons found during the game, as well as ammo and such).
I took over outposts using only a handgun, or bow.
Anyway, nothing as crazy as you. But fun anyway.
