It’s just some good satisfaction walking past the open women cashiers as if they’re invisible at the grocery store going straight to the self check out kiosk. We don’t need or want them.
Now if only banks could replace the tellers with automation. Oddly about 99% of bank employees are young women. Wonder why?

It depends on where you are because banking is different in different countries. Here in Canada they are really cutting back on frontline staff. Everything is going online. in 10 years I suspect you will not be able to do over the counter transactions at Canadian banks.

Make them work. I am not an employee of the store. They are and can bag my s~~~.

Because 99% of corporate HR is c~~~ infested. Plus it is a low skill/pay job on the front teller lines.

I do this whenever possible. I get through faster, there are no issues with bagging and I don’t have to wait on price checks.

    Great post

Now that you mention it, i had a weird bank experience. Went to the bank one time to deposit a check and the teller was an old high school friend, she didn’t really have any attention on me but became very interested in me after looking at the check.

I sure am lucky i noticed all of that kind of stuff when i was younger, it saved me from getting married or having kids.

Murph ~ There is nothing brave or manly about entering into a contract with somebody which allows them to take your money, assets, children, and decades of your future income on a mere whim.

Massive time saver. I can bag my own stuff way faster than the c~~~ behind the register can (or at least DOES). I also won’t break my own eggs or mix items that shouldn’t be bagged together.

I expect a discount if I use the self checkout. I am after all saving them manpower.

Down here there is at least one bank that is shutting branches and getting rid of ATM’s as well. It won’t make a difference they will employ women elsewhere.

Why are so many of these frontline staff female? There is a sexist attitude that women are more pleasant to look at and more friendly. That is my opinion. I had a female colleague mention the other day that our concierge at work should be a woman. Currently it is a male.

I mostly go to the shortest line. When the self checkouts first came to town, no one used them. Now sometimes, the self checkout lines are full and the “manned” lines are empty.

The evil in women’s hearts leaves them no moral bounds as to inhibit them from descending to the lowest levels of darkness to acquire their self entitled desires.

Social engineering at its finest make women so horrible to deal with that you can get men to do the females job and not have to pay women to stand at a counter to check out items anymore. Genius plan and it is working and more stores will be implementing this model soon too. The days of having people actually work for you while you spend your money will be gone soon enough.

Self-checkouts hurt low skill jobs and I’m not in favor of it. Thank God my grocery store took them out. No, I’m not going to put a low paying worker out of a job to save myself a few minutes of my time, which it doesn’t. I believe in hiring people instead of automating.

But apparently most of all those jobs are held by women meanwhile the men are taking out trash. More power to ya, simp on to Britney and Uhlexa as they talk s~~~ to your face and behind your back. “So, um, like, You need help with carrying that um, like, bag of gro-shrees?”

Yep… grossly sickening isn’t it? They have no fricking shame about digging into your financial data. We all know good and well those tuna crotched c~~~s work as bank tellers (with only a high school education) so they can trawl and scower through bank accounts of men with the most disposable income they can prey on.

If the cashiers weren’t careless and rude, I’d be all for hiring people as well. I feel no sympathy for low-skilled workers who lose jobs they put barely any effort into in the first place. There will ALWAYS be a demand for polite and friendly people in customer service positions.

Some big grocery stores also have some self checkouts here in Hungary, even if human workforce is a lot cheaper here. For example, late night only 1-2 human cashiers and the self checkout is open.

I guess, human cashiers won’t go totally extinct, as some old people are either stupid or scared of tech, and cannot use a computer or handle a machine.

For bank stuff: most of people and most of simple stuff (i.e. taking out or sending money, checking history,…) can be done by ATM machines and by internet banking. And I rarely use any other functionality of the bank anyway. But again, some people are scared of ATM (and messing up something, or being hacked) and cannot use a computer to access internet banking.

Among old people there are a lot who are illiterate in tech stuff.

About the question of jobs vs. automation: I think those people will find something else to do. It is an industrial revolution, of course it will mess things up. But as long as it happens slow enough for people to adapt and overcome, it should be okay. If most of the jobs we know currently will be automated, future generations will work something we cannot imagine now. As if one couldn’t have imagined computer programmers in the age of steam engines. I think as a fact, companies want profit, so if automation needs less resource, then they will do it.
