So I live one town over from Santa Fe where the shootings occurred last Friday morning. However, the retired Officer who was shot lives one neighborhood over from me…where my kids ex lives. On the same street, a couple house down. In fact, my son is good friends with the Officer’s son. They have known each other for years, been at each other’s houses, playing sports together. Just a few months ago, the boys were on playing doubles tennis for the school together. I actually met and sat with the Officer and his family, watching our kids play Tennis.
They are a good family, as far as I can tell. They were rather pleasant with me, even though they are good friends with my ex, they didn’t treat me like I’m an asshole. The wife is actually a principle at a elementary school.
The Officer’s son is relatively popular at school. Because of that and the proximity of my kid’s school to the shooting, there is going to be a lot of stress there for awhile. This doesn’t seem like a “can’t happen to me” thing anymore to them. The district as also promised to add security to the schools and possibly check backpacks.
Point is, this isn’t a mental exercise around here anymore. This is real. Even those that are not victims are effected in someway or another. This is not gun control country, as there is a high concentration of gun owner’s around here. I doubt the response will be like Parklands.
Before this, I was pro 2nd amendment rights. I still very much am. Removing guns from innocent people doesn’t solve anything. I see this more as mental health issue. For the shooter, yes, but well beyond that to societies health. It’s many different things, not just one, that add up to a bad combination. I don’t have a solution.
Ok. Then do it.
more shooting please, a few more volcanos wold be cool.
soo much to enjoy latelly. To those following me, be careful, I just farted. Men those beans are killers.

Exactly. We need to give the guns to the right people.

My thoughts exactly. How does a kid get to the point where he is going to kill a bunch of his classmates and accept a fate of either suicide by cop or life in prison? Where is the parenting? Where are the teachers that they can’t tell this kid is f~~~ed up? Even if you took away every gun in the US, there is still a kid out there hurting this bad inside. And all anyone wants to do is argue over the gun he used.
According to Hillary, it takes a village to raise a child. Okay. Hey village! You are really f~~~ing up! This kind of s~~~ didn’t used to happen. Seems to me we should go back and look at how parenting has changed since these school shootings started happening and re-examine what the root causes are.

From what I’ve heard, the teachers and students are usually aware of issues, but they feel powerless to do anything about it. Reporting on the kid is likely to come with an acquisition that you’re a snitch, you’re paranoid, and generally brings them a whole lot of grief. With PC culture, we’ve made this a lot more difficult to address.

Exactly. Guns didn’t motivate the kid to do what he did. People want to argue over guns because they don’t really want to do any work to resolve the problem. I’m not saying I do either, but I’m not going to say get rid of the guns removes the desire to commit mass murder like this.

As far as it never being a regular thing before, I see two points to that. First, it did happen, just not as frequently, and it didn’t receive all the media attention. Second, I think media attention has turned many potential suiciders into potential mass murders. I would speculate that a teen boy 20 years ago wouldn’t consider shooting up his school when he wanted to commit suicide. Now, it’s on the table, because he’s seen it on the tv and he seen that it ‘works’.
Ok. Then do it.
Are you scared?
It doesn’t matter to me who lives, or die. If it doesn’t affect me personally, not my problem.
Watch your booty, mate.

“A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” ~ Yeshua Mashiach
You want a solution?
Here it is!(Just replace all ancient and foreign names for places, people and false gods with the ones of the current age.)
Until this world repents with these actions, things are only going to go from bad to worse.
Read and ask the Holy Spirit for Wisdom or leave the scoffers at the helm and see what happens!
King Josiah summoned all the leaders of Judah and Jerusalem, 2 and together they went to the Temple, accompanied by the priests and the prophets and all the rest of the people, rich and poor alike. Before them all the king read aloud the whole book of the covenant which had been found in the Temple. 3 He stood by the royal column and made a covenant with the Lord to obey him, to keep his laws and commands with all his heart and soul, and to put into practice the demands attached to the covenant, as written in the book. And all the people promised to keep the covenant.
4 Then Josiah ordered the High Priest Hilkiah, his assistant priests, and the guards on duty at the entrance to the Temple to bring out of the Temple all the objects used in the worship of Baal, of the goddess Asherah, and of the stars. The king burned all these objects outside the city near Kidron Valley and then had the ashes taken to Bethel. 5 He removed from office the priests that the kings of Judah had ordained to offer sacrifices[a] on the pagan altars in the cities of Judah and in places near Jerusalem—all the priests who offered sacrifices to Baal, to the sun, the moon, the planets, and the stars. 6 He removed from the Temple the symbol of the goddess Asherah, took it out of the city to Kidron Valley, burned it, pounded its ashes to dust, and scattered it over the public burying ground. 7 He destroyed the living quarters in the Temple occupied by the temple prostitutes. (It was there that women wove robes used in the worship of Asherah.) 8 He brought to Jerusalem the priests who were in the cities of Judah, and throughout the whole country he desecrated the altars where they had offered sacrifices. He also tore down the altars dedicated to the goat demons near the gate built by Joshua, the city governor, which was to the left of the main gate as one enters the city. 9 Those priests were not allowed to serve in the Temple, but they could eat the unleavened bread provided for their fellow priests.
10 King Josiah also desecrated Topheth, the pagan place of worship in Hinnom Valley, so that no one could sacrifice his son or daughter as a burnt offering to the god Molech. 11 He also removed the horses that the kings of Judah had dedicated to the worship of the sun, and he burned the chariots used in this worship. (These were kept in the temple courtyard, near the gate and not far from the living quarters of Nathan Melech, a high official.) 12 The altars which the kings of Judah had built on the palace roof above King Ahaz’ quarters, King Josiah tore down, along with the altars put up by King Manasseh in the two courtyards of the Temple; he smashed the altars to bits[c] and threw them into Kidron Valley. 13 Josiah desecrated the altars that King Solomon had built east of Jerusalem, south of the Mount of Olives,[d] for the worship of disgusting idols—Astarte the goddess of Sidon, Chemosh the god of Moab, and Molech the god of Ammon. 14 King Josiah broke the stone pillars to pieces, cut down the symbols of the goddess Asherah, and the ground where they had stood he covered with human bones.
15 Josiah also tore down the place of worship in Bethel, which had been built by King Jeroboam son of Nebat, who led Israel into sin. Josiah pulled down the altar, broke its stones into pieces,[e] and pounded them to dust; he also burned the image of Asherah. 16 Then Josiah looked around and saw some tombs there on the hill; he had the bones taken out of them and burned on the altar. In this way he desecrated the altar, doing what the prophet had predicted long before during the festival as King Jeroboam was standing by the altar. King Josiah looked around and saw the tomb of the prophet[f] who had made this prediction. 17 “Whose tomb is that?” he asked.
The people of Bethel answered, “It is the tomb of the prophet who came from Judah and predicted these things that you have done to this altar.”
18 “Leave it as it is,” Josiah ordered. “His bones are not to be moved.”
So his bones were not moved, neither were those of the prophet who had come from Samaria.
19 In every city of Israel King Josiah tore down all the pagan places of worship which had been built by the kings of Israel, who thereby aroused the Lord’s anger. He did to all those altars what he had done in Bethel. 20 He killed all the pagan priests on the altars where they served, and he burned human bones on every altar. Then he returned to Jerusalem.

Reporting the kid…. If only they’d look at it as helping a kid. But then again, if you want to help the kid, you aren’t being a snitch, you’re being a caring human being. If you think you’re being a snitch, well then you don’t give a f~~~ about the kid you just don’t want a bullet in your head. So, is it about you or the kid?

I see this more as mental health issue. For the shooter, yes, but well beyond that to societies health. It’s many different things, not just one, that add up to a bad combination. I don’t have a solution.
Sorry no; the issue is much simpler than you made it. Children are growing up in a society that teaches them they are “entitled” which is another word for “aggrieved” always everywhere so they all have a big fat chip on their shoulders and their told its OK to have it. The second prong is that our society, school etc have attacked and destroyed the notion that there is right/good and wrong/evil. How does this toxic brew play out?
A kid with a grievance mentality, and no sense of right or wrong is going to end up killing people. It really is just that simple. So I don’t want to hear all the usual libtard excuses: He was mentally ill, he was on drugs, his mommy didn’t hug him enough, he was picked on BLAH BLAH BLAH.
Guess what entitlement crowd? Life isn’t fair and its tough and painful—learning to deal with it and not falling into the baby-crying trap of thinking you are the center of the universe is what we call maturity.

And where does that come from Pete? I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that it started right about the same time as no-fault divorce and dad was kicked out of the house. Too many kids today don’t understand that someone has to go out and earn.

It’s also what we call being a man. But these young kids aren’t around their fathers enough to see it. What they see is mom getting more than what she earned. Why wouldn’t they think life works that way?

Where is the parenting?
It’s being done by single mothers. Need I say more??

I totally agree. Thanks to the helicopter moms and participation trophies and now this entitlement culture, kids today have ZERO skills to cope with negative emotion. I would argue even to say that when they do act out violently, while they know there are consequences, they in their entitled minds probably feel completely justified. After all, they’ve been told their special and shoulddl have anything they want their whole lives.
This is literally the equivalent of an emotionally stunted person throwing tantrum, only with deadly consequences.

Excellent Taxguy took it to the third prong—the absence of fathers and the predominance of women.

I may be mentally ill, don’t know. I did drugs in high school. (Didn’t like it so quickly stopped.) I was bullied. (Finally p~~~ed me off enough so I started standing up to bullies.) I’m a child of divorce. (So what?) We had plenty of guns in the house. Not once did a thought occur in my head that I take a gun to school and shoot up the place.
No, something else is wrong with today’s society. What is happening now, would never happen in the 1970’s and 80’s.
The evil in women’s hearts leaves them no moral bounds as to inhibit them from descending to the lowest levels of darkness to acquire their self entitled desires.
Me too Hermit. I was disliked, abused, beat-up bullied all through H.S. I didn’t shoot anybody (might have wanted to) but I didn’t and in the end there were some negative consequences but the point is you and I dealt with this kind of thing—successfully.
Sorry no; the issue is much simpler than you made it.
I wasn’t trying to imply that it was simple, I was trying to say that it was the exact opposite. That’s a mix of several issues.

Agree on these two points.
Guess what entitlement crowd? Life isn’t fair and its tough and painful—learning to deal with it and not falling into the baby-crying trap of thinking you are the center of the universe is what we call maturity.
I don’t think it’s so much thinking the universe revolves on them so much as having no idea how to lose. If no one ever tells you to pick yourself up and keep going after you fail, then you will clearly believe you are a failure. I’m not saying that entitlement does happen, but this guy, it looks like he did a good share of failing and had no understand of how to cope with it.
Ok. Then do it.
An Excerpt from the War against Boys,
” But increasingly in our schools and in our homes, everyday boyishness is seen as aberrational toxic–a pathology in need of a cure.
Boys today bear the burden of several powerful cultural trends: a therapeutic approach to education that valorizes feelings and denigrates competition and risk, zero tolerance policies that punish normal antics of young males, and a gender equity movement that views masculinity as predatory. Natural male exuberance is no longer tolerated.” Christina hoff SummersSo the gynocentric education system is at war with our children especially boy’s. They cannot express themselves naturally. This will create all kinds of self worth issues. Then add on to that the pressures of Teacher on student rapes and how girls treat them these days. It’s no wonder boy’s are striking back. There really isn’t anyone in the Public education system that gives a s~~~ about our boys. I imagine they are tired of constant verbal abuse from feminism , teachers, who don’t have a clue about solving the crisis.
