I know rucking is walking with weights in the ruck sack on your back, but can this workout be done on a bike? Every YouTube clip I saw of it is just walking.

I would think you would give your lower back a good workout.

Your upper body is supported by the seat and your legs would be doing the same pedaling as normal when riding a bike.

If walking, your body is adapting to weight it is not used to. The legs are supporting more.

    Just my two cents.

You can pretty much do any workout with a ruck sack or, better yet, a weighted vest. Just don’t over do it, and ensure you maintain a correct posture. Otherwise, you can f~~~ up your back.

I used to race bikes. one work out I had was ride 50 + miles towing a red wagon with 4 50 pound bags of cement, then add more weight as I got stronger. putting weight in a backpack up high while riding a bike is not good. best workout was pushing a car around the block a couple times. asshole behind the wheel, foot on the brake… cinderblocks in the trunk.

another workout, dragging a truck tire chained to the bike. then 2, then 3.

uh yes yes, i can produce prodigious amounts of torque. wanna see?

worst workout. bar none. pedal with one leg only. with cleats indoors on rollers. absolutely the worst. master that s~~~, you will have the smoothest pedal stroke ever.

You certainly can wear a ruck while biking, just be sure that you get ventilation on your back, pack it tight and centered, and don’t forget to add reflective bands on it. Unless you special order them, rucks are not reflective.

It really wouldn’t make much sense to do it while biking. Unless even the hardest gear on your bike is too easy for you. Just up the gear until you get the workout resistance that you need.
