    Link here

I’m not one to usually read about or care about celebrity news much, but this certainly caught my eye.

Despite the link I provided saying that “Ronda could beat Shaq,” I think he’d tear her apart if he was allowed to actually fight back.

Let’s all have a collective laugh here.

By the way, how about she fights a male fighter who is her weight?

Oh yeah right, it’s because she knows she’d get crushed

Ronda Rousey, I gotta admit, is one tough cookie. She honestly could kick most guys (who do not train in MMA) asses. She could also kick most guys who DO train MMA and fight at the amateur level asses.

She is THAT GOOD. Look, I hate to think a girl could kick my ass, but in this case it is the truth.

But Yeh I agree, she is a fighter, she is trained. And could kick anyone who isn’t prepared (physically and mentally to fight) at all or someone who is an amateur. But that’s it. I mean, Im impressed with all professional fighters, no exceptions really and in different martial arts. She is known and popular, well, that doesn’t make her better then everyone else suddenly.

As good as she is for a woman, men are on a whole different level when it comes to violence, controlled or uncontrolled. Shaq’s size and weight would be something she could not over come. She may inflict some damage, but he would win in the end.

She is good at what she does, but a man with street experience, nothing professional, would kill her. She needs to stop letting people put her in this position or she is going to get seriously hurt. If she is just spouting off, well, it’s her funeral.

I have taken on 4th-5th degree BB females in JJ (not BJJ), my weight, power and aggressiveness won out fairly quickly, and I was at a halfway to BB rank at the time.  She could hurt you, no doubt but a man with any fighting experience is gonna destroy her. I fear street fighters more than anyone else, with good reason.

Especially since street fights can get really nasty really quick.
If you try grappling mma-style with a guy who pulled out a knife, you better expect to be seriously hurt if the opponent is not a total moron.

Yep, go for a single leg on a street fighter and see what it gets you. It won’t be pretty. I learned to fight in Detroit’s inner city in the 60-70s, I’m a white guy. I didn’t learn “Scientific” fighting until the military. She would last seconds with the guys I knew, a gun would be the only thing that would save her.

I wish people would quit doing this to her, she is actually allowed herself to be painted into a corner by giving in to answering those stupid questions. If she said “I don’t fight men” and stuck to it, it would be over, but she has more ego than a man and doesn’t know when to shut the f~~~ up!

She could possibly beat “some” non-MMA men in fights, but Shaq is 7’1″ and over 300 pounds of muscle.  That guy’s not going down easily.

(This could just be my bias for Shaq as I’ve loved the guy since I watched the NBA in his Orlando Magic/L.A. Lakers years)

And really, what’s the point of it for a man? If she loses it’s “Well, shes only a woman” and he loses it’s “You lost to a bitch” it is a no win situation. Just like in the high schools that allow girls to compete with boys in wrestling. I have seen boys leave the mat after losing to a girl and quit the team. It is a lose-lose situation for a man.

And I am not saying I could take Rousey on. She is very good because she trains with men, to beat women. My days of that stuff are behind me, and I don’t heal as well or as quick as I used to. If she wants a challenge she should fight the trans guy who tried to get away with being a female MMA fighter. I think Bill Burr does a bit about him.

The thing about Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (especially Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) is that you can be a small woman and “beat” men who are much bigger and stronger than you. Of course we are only talking about in the ring. In the street it’s a whole different ballgame. But the thing about BJJ is that the dynamics of it is………if you have the skills you can submit someone much larger and stronger than you. Of course if your opponent has any wrestling experience than it makes it much harder. But if the guy is just big and strong and that’s it, no fighting knowledge, or maybe just a little fighting knowledge, then the woman could submit the guy. That is why they call BJJ the gentile art. A woman, all she has to do is have the skills to get you in an arm bar or a rear naked choke or even a choke if you are wearing a hoodie/ heavy shirt/ jacket using your clothing to choke you. There are no punches thrown. No blood. That’s why in BJJ they say “Tap, snap, or sleep”. If you do not tap out you will either break something or you will go to sleep.

It’s not foolproof. But I will tell you this. The ladies that I see in the BJJ gym……..I do not think they are gonna get raped any time soon.

I disagree.  She has only fought women who don’t hit as hard.  She’s probably the only legit fighter in the women’s division so she looks like a phenomenon but, her competition is just that bad.  In the ring with a guy would be a different story.  Nobody knows if she can take a guy’s punch.  She’s like the frog in the well right now.

I have taken Judo, BJJ and Aikido, ans what they dont tell you is a lot of these practitioners cannot take a punch to the face or dont even train to take a punch to the face.

Mike Tyson said it best, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.

If those girls at the BJJ class tried to arm bar a guy he could stand up and slam her or my particular favorite stand up twist a little and stump his shoe or boot into their faces.  Training in a dojo is great, I recommend it but dont think youre Bruce Lee or something and gonna beat opponents larger and stronger then you.  If these women went to the guard one shot to her face, broken nose, they are done, they are crying bleeding and maybe unconscious.  One shot to the face and their head bounces of the concrete and they are out cold.

In the world of fighting and most everything else, here is a simple formula

Male > Women.   It is just how it is.

Teaching Combatives in the military we had a drill were they would have to come in and clench and hold us so we couldn’t punch them anymore and hold us for 3 seconds.  Not one out of a hundred plus females did it right, in fact they removed me from being the puncher because no women would pass the drill.  I can’t tell you how many women left crying and quit because I wouldn’t change the standard, after I moved to teach level 2 instead of one there was a wave of female passers from level 1 that should not have made it to level, 2.  All I can say id the new guy was a mangina white knight that didnt realize he wasnt helping anyone passing substandard students.

I always told everyone this “youre going to get punched, you determine how hard the next few are going to be.”

In total agreement ComingHot. You echo my thoughts, probably the military thing. I would think you were Army or Marine since you are talking combatives. I don’t like the modern Bjj style combatives, just not the right stuff for the field. What are your views on this?

    Hey Sarge,

I was in the Army.  I do agree with you 100%.    I dislike the modern style bjj they teach as well.  The only reason combatives came around in 2003 when I initially joined was it was more of a at least they know something mentality that was being taught.  I believe they wanted something to compare to the Marines MCMAP program at the time. Thats why the Army came out with the combatives program.

The problem is 99% of the students in the army have never been in a fight, so they had this mentality that this stuff is going to work, no questions asked and the results were disastrous.  Ex. the students had a habit of shooting in and trying to dump people.  I had to knee one in the head gently for him to get the message in front of everyone.  (what works in sports and the cage will not work in real life) You will get knee’d in the face and head if you shoot in and try this s~~~ in the real world and your opponent knows what you’re doing.

I took years of martial arts in HS.  (muay thai, judo, bjj, aikido, and a summer of hapkido.)  When the program first came into effect in 2003 and I enlisted straight out of HS and got to my second unit.  I went to the level 1 instructors and destroyed them.  Went to the level  2 instructors, again destroyed them.  I didnt even have to take the classes of 1 and 2, they just made me an instructor.  Now, this is when the program first came out so I dont know if they are better, worse or the same, I just know what happened when I was there and taught.   They asked me to teach level 3, but It was entirely weapons based when I was in and refused on the premise that, where are these clowns going to get some of these weapons in combat, it is not realistic, we need an advanced level that focuses on hand to hand not weapons, but they all disagreed.

The best fighters that I ever taught were martial artists and had some experience.  I believe the best fighters learn multiple arts and use what they need at the time.  If some people asked me what i would recommend.  It would be: muay thai, aikido (and i mean the rough stuff not that fairy s~~~ you see fat overweight men attempting to practice, I mean you are black and blue after the sessions and if you move wrong during a throw you may break something, also they practiced striking in the face or throat before they did the move, not just grabbing an opponent and doing the move.) And BJJ and some judo.   If you take those you are set.   The best fighters combine these arts and make their own and what works for them.

I asked to teach some of these during the classes to make them better, but the E-6 & E-7 denied me at every turn and said I needed to stick to the program because these guys were going back to their units to teach and they wanted a certain curriculum.  Sometimes it isn’t whats best but its the minimum standard they teach now a days.

    YMMV.

    Sorry to Hijack the tread.

It is the best she can do.
