She is the lead female in the Netflix series The House of Cards with Kevin Spacey.

“I was looking at statistics and Claire Underwood’s character was more popular than [Frank’s] for a period of time. So I capitalized on that moment. I was like, ‘You better pay me or I’m going to go public,’” Wright said with her trademark blinding-white grin. “And they did.”

You got paid, even made a executive producer last year but it is never enough so you just had to go public with it anyway for more drama didn’t you?

“Because I wasn’t working full time, I wasn’t building my salary bracket. If you don’t build salary bracket with notoriety and presence, you’re not in the game anymore. You become a B-list actor. … You’re not box office material,” Wright said. “You don’t hold the value you would have held if you had done four movies a year like Nicole Kidman and Cate Blanchett did during the time I was raising my kids. Now I’m kind of on a comeback at 50 years old.”

So she acknowledged having and raising kids were her priorities in life but now that she is back in the work force she has to demand equal pay to Kevin Spacey, who during that time worked his ass off to get to where he was while she did her own thing and yet now you should be equals? Privileged entitlement at its finest.

I’d kill her character off and made sure that when they saw it on screen, they knew why.

I think she deserves the same pay as Kevin Spacey, but the sex of the actors has nothing to do with anything.

“I was like, ‘I want to be paid the same as Kevin,’” said Wright

    How whiny does that sound?

Mind you, the main reason women don’t get paid the same as men in that situation is that they don’t negotiate as well. If she did, and if as the text suggests she does have as important a role in the show, then fine. Film studios and production companies will pay as little as possible to anyone, regardless of gender: you have to negotiate or just be happy that you’re in a successful show with a legendary actor.

“I was like, ‘I want to be paid the same as Kevin,’” said Wright

And Kevin wants to be paid the same as Meryl Streep.

And they all wish they got paid the same as Sam Jackson.

To be paid the same as Kevin Spacey you have to be in the same league as Kevin Spacey. Robin Wright isn’t. How do we know? She’s co-starring on a netflix production. Co-starring. Netflix.

Kevin has a goddamn Oscar. For best actor. Where’s your Oscar, Robin? Oh. That’s right. You don’t have one. So shut the f~~~ about equal pay for unequal performance.

If she is making more money than I do then she is being paid what she is worth.

I stopped watching that show after season 2 or 3. Kevin has more lines and scenes so I think he should be paid more. People are watching more for him than anybody else. This is how women are going to negotiate salary from now on. Find the highest paid guy and demand his salary in the guise of “equal pay”.

I mean, Netflix is pretty big and Robin Wright does a pretty amazing job. In S4 she does about as much or more than Spacey. I think it’s the best season of the show now, though S1 is close. S2 was weak and S3 was good.

Never watched the show. My opinion though, if she has a contract, she needs to honor it. I am not a fan of people (actors really) using the public to get a pay increase. Negotiate in private. If you aren’t happy with your pay then walk. Netflix can decide if you’re replaceable or not.

Chances are though, this is only hurting her career. Even if she gets her pay, producers will take notice. The show will eventually end and she will have to look for a new gig. If I’m a producer, I’m avoiding an any actress that’s going to put her ideology and such over the welfare of my show.

    Ok. Then do it.

I think she should shut up and mind her own business. If she would of done more, then she deserves more. It’s the same thing at where my best friend works. He has to work with a lot of women (nasty ones), they do less work (in fact, they push their work onto him), and they get paid better than him. They do more complaining and push their work onto him, and they demand better pay. It’s like women want to get paid more for doing less. Plus, this equal pay stuff is also bunk because some people get paid better for the same work is probably because of time worked at the company.

Also I’m sick of people complaining about their jobs and equal pay, because there’s a lot of unemployed people including myself that would love to take their job regardless of pay. So I tell these people to shut up and just be grateful to even have a job right now, while some of us don’t even have one to bitch about! I mean finding a job is no easy thing only to complain about it. It’s insulting to those who are out of work.

I wonder who would destroy the show if eliminated, Spacey or Wright?

Kevin Spacey is the lead, she is a co-star. She could die off and the show would do better for the crowd appeal. Lose Spacey and no one will watch a season.

The producers are easily bullied mangina’s. Who gives a s~~~ what Robin Who is paid, and, as a slap in the face, she went public anyway.

Kevin Spacey is a wimp for not doing a little negotiation himself and walking off the set.

You guys are too easily fooled. This was very clearly a publicity stunt.

What really happened is, she renegotiated her pay to match Kevin’s due to her large role in the show (or Netflix simply offered it). Then they told her to fabricate this story because it would provide free publicity and feminism sells.

Do you really think she would threaten the hand that feeds with “going public” and then just do it anyway after they gave in to her demands? Look past the divide and conquer bulls~~~.
