According to FOX News and IMDb, actor Gene Wilder has died this morning in CT. He was 83. I thought he was a little older. This is too bad, because I remember him from such films as: Wily Wonka, Hear No See No Evil, Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein, the 1999 version of Alice In Wonderland. I’m not terribly sad by it, because to live 83 years is a long life. So today is the death of Wily Wonka.

He was my avatar for 2 or 3 years. Will really miss his comic genius. He was legendary in “The Producers” too. I just saw it for the first time recently. RIP Gene Wilder.

Dang. He was an icon. So many good ones have died this year. I always liked the Frisco Kid.
    RIP Gene

My favorite was him without spoken line. In blazing saddles,a bunch of Black guys were seeing each other for the first time in a while, doin there Black thing, and Gene just observes, with a grin in his face. He knows hes not Black, cant join in,but feels lucky to be accepted enough to be allowed to observe. He wasnt acting. Shows me what kind of guy he really was.

People from my ‘film youth’ are now dying off …. I’m slowly moving along in the line.

Gene brought me many side splitting moments.

I will go watch him again in honour.

It is not that he died. We all die. Entropy always wins.

It was that he died of complications of alzhimers. It is one thing to be 80 y.o. and have a frail body. To have a frail mind is a shabby way to go.

    RIP Gene.

Me too. I liked that movie.

Stir Crazy was about my favourite movie as a kid (possibly pipped by Blazing Saddles). Such a great man. Movies they quite literally just wouldn’t make today.

Wily Wonka and Hear No Evil; See No Evil were my favorite with him. It was where he played a deaf guy playing with Richard Pryor who played a blind guy on the lame for a murder they are accused of.

    Rest in peace Gene Wilder.
This man brightened our day and made us laugh.
Loved Blazing Saddles. He was a true genius.
I didn’t know about the Alzheimer’s. Hopefully, he is in a better place playing golf or something.
