Anonymous38A scene in which Jake Green (Jason Statham) experiences ego ‘death’*.
The moment when a man realises that ‘inner voice’ has been controlling him all this time. And turns the tables, realises all fear is an illusion.
A truly magnificent scene in its portrayal and depth of meaning. This movie helped free my mind. It’s now my favourite film and I highly recommended to all truth seekers.
*Note the ego cannot die, but the term ego death is used to describe the moment where it loses all power over you.
To go a little deeper with your rational, the thing you call EGO is your human impulse, whenever you smoke a cigarette a lot of times you grabbed that cigarette because your subconscious wanted you to, the impulse of grabbing another cigarette or a drink was too strong that you could say no to it.
The human body has two minds, the first one is the one you attribute the name that was given to you as its main operating system, the second mind is the mind of the body, it doesn’t talk but you always hear people saying “i followed me intuition” or “i had a gut feeling”, its all subconsciously based when you break it down.
The ego is as fake as a coin with two faces on each side since everything that you consider your taste or what defines “you” was either given to you by other people or through experiences other people already had, you are bound to run into crisis of yourself and begin to question who you are and what you came into this world for, call it a crisis of personality.
You may not be aware but your body is always introducing images or thoughts for you to read into as ideas of what to do with your day, a lot of times your body reacts chemically to its surroundings, if you are surrounded by males your body will assume that competition is tough so it will raise testosterone levels, that is why you see most guys in jail are buffed, if you are surrounded by women your testosterone levels will drop once you are engaged with them.
Buddha once said “Rule your mind or it will rule you”, Now ask yourself, on your day to day who rules the meat puppet you call your body?.
*Note the ego cannot die, but the term ego death is used to describe the moment where it loses all power over you.
“Ego” is the classical sense is the logical part of self, while the “Id” is the emotional part of self. This has been reversed in the modern age.
Anyway, the term “ego death” means death of one’s “self”. That means losing your personality, memories, and about everything else that makes a person a person in the “self” since, with the only thing left being a clean slate of one’s self awareness.
Interesting thread.
False ego means mistaken identity = not being or realising your real self. Your thoughts are not your consciousness as you can observe your thoughts. Your mind is not the soul. False ego may be covering an individuals’ true nature/self.Processes such as transcendental meditation enable one to more easily view/observe singular thoughts as they arise..certain mantra meditations and spiritual lifestyles associated with the east, enable one to gradually cleanse or purify yourself of false ego and lower modes of material nature, destructive types of passion, greed and ignorance. Spiritual traditions in various parts of the world have processes with similar aims.

Its good to talk about ideas but it is important to not let the ideas become bigger than reality.
In the end one should not let one’s image of one’s self take precedence over what is good for one. In this respect the “ego death” is good but fear is also your friend. Fear of losing what you have amassed is often healthy. A man does well not to get lost in spirituality or psychology (which is pretty much the scientific equivalent). The mind and the body are inseparable. The self and your life history are inseparable. They have complicated relationships that need to be checked to see they are healthy but you can’t reach one except through the other, so to try to cut one off is to cut your nose off to spite your face.
Seek wisdom, know yourself, learn to be as objective as possible about yourself (to do this completely is impossible).
