Repeating Radio Signals detected … distant Galaxy

There is a theory that goes something like this- Many Scientists believe that we have not and will not be contacted by intelligent life from projecting where our “Intelligent” life here on Earth is heading… You guessed it, all the money is spent on War, not Space Exploration… So, odds are if survival of the fittest is universal in nature throughout the Cosmos the projection for all “Intelligent” life ends with it’s own self destruction before they get off their respective rocks floating around their respective Stars. All evidence points to this playing out here on Earth before we get anywhere in Deep Space let alone out of our own Solar System.

I think if there ever was intelligent life capable of space exploration, it would be synthetic, not something which evolved naturally from a different world.

If any intelligent life comes from our planet, it wont be humans. It will either be synthetic animals or humans but genetically and cybernetically enhanced, or it will be something entirely synthetic, like machines with artificial intelligence that can self replicate and explore space without worrying about such things as food, oxygen, etc. It seems unlikely humans would be the last step in evolution, but who knows…maybe something better will come from us.

Of course, that is assuming we don’t all annihilate ourselves before such an invention can be made. That also means if any intelligent life did find us, we may not even recognize it as something living. I wouldn’t count on it being friendly, or even having emotions for that matter. Best case scenario, it would see us as primordial slugs and not bother us. Worst case, it will wipe us out before we can become advanced enough to become a threat, or use our planet to mine for whatever resources it needs.

If the signals are from a distant galaxy, that civilization is already millions of years ahead of those signals, if it still exists.
Also, for the signal to reach another galaxy, that civilization would have to be Level 3, if I recall corrrectly, having read it somewhere. i.e. they would be capable of using theyr star’s energy directly. And that would be millions of years ago. Interesting… makes one feel very very very small.

EDIT: I did not recall correctly. I looked it up and they would have to be a type 2 civilization on the Kardashev scale.

The answer is NO. “I could but I won’t”. Memini murum!

Natural phenomena can create regularly repeating signals. What you want to find is not a repeating signal but a modulated carrier wave… an indication of a deliberate signal.
