Sometimes staying motivated to keep up a regular exercise routine is difficult. What difficulties do you encounter?

I like to jog, so this is my difficulty at times:

Trying to do too much always leads to burn out. I used to over train like crazy then stop everything for weeks at a time. Then the guilt sets in because you’ve missed so many days. Rinse/repeat.

Little and often works best for me. I halved my regular run distance and cut back on weight training by 70%. Also don’t be afraid to miss days.

As long as you’re consistent, the results will come.

I generally cut my distance by about a third during the cold months, but if it’s bad weather then I’ll cut the distance down way more. The point is to try and be regular, and if that means going back to baby-steps for a few days, so be it. Guilt about missing sessions is a thing I try to shrug off by focusing on what I am already able to do at my age, and how I feel generally speaking. I don’t like going to annual medical check-ups so I see my regular exercise as my ‘green-light’ to keep going, more than a means to prove something to myself. Although, it sometimes depends on the red-pill intake side effects on some days.

Know when it is your duty to give them zero explanations for your actions.

Perhaps try finding a different physical activity that will keep you in shape and still keep you motivated and interested, there are a lot out there to try.

BTW, jogging isn’t that good for you – read this:

I’m usually motivated to get over to the gym – once I’m there it varies. Most days I do a good cardiovascular workout and get to the majority of weight training machines. But sometimes I skip
A few. What motivates me is that I can really see the results since I began a steady workout about a year ago. Also will confess – when I’m working out if I see a nice tight ass on one of the few decent looking pre wall women at my gym – it keeps me going for a bit longer.

I keep it to around 3 miles at a time, not the kind of distance that takes away from masculinity. I think the article suggests masculinity takes a dip for guys that run more in the range of like 40 or 50 miles a week.

Keep it to an all round regime.
Excerise being part of it. Diet plays a massive part.
For years I understeimated how important the correctt diet is.

Once I got that sorted I saw gains I had never seen.

I’m 46 now and have better physique than ever.

The only thing that I am more mindful with is injury.
It seems to happen easier nowadays compared to twenties and thirties.

When I was young I decided I would allways be in shape.
Come up with a moderate daily routine that you can maintane for life.

Self disipline is about not haveing a choice.
    The decision was already made.

At age 62 I need to be realistic but consistent. I can’t do what I used to in my forties (and my fifties were a total blur—another story for another time). At the same time, I really want to stay fit and strong. So, I do a full-body barbell workout every other day. At first I lifted every day but after a few months I had developed enough strength that the returns from daily workouts were petering out. Now, depending on the day I’ll hit 15, 20 or 25 sets, using a modified 5X5 rep scheme. (If you’re not familiar with it, there are dozens of reliable web sites and Youtube tutorials to learn from and adapt to your goals and fitness level.) I take my time but I don’t slowpoke around. Between workout days I eat well and sleep well so I can get the max out of the gym sessions. Cheers.

My rage fuels my exercises. I have high expectations from people so I am often disappointed. That results in rage and I take it out when I exercise.

I could be at 2% body fat if I wanted to but it’s unhealthy. I literally need to hold myself back from working out too much.

I have started doing different things to complement my usual exercise routine. I am working on my footwork and hand-eye coordination. Batting cages, golf range and gun range are where I have been spending some time lately.

Unless you are built like a gazelle running will wear your body down over time. Even if built like a gazelle you will still wear down if you overdo it. Try to mix it up, bicycle, swim, moderate weight training. Your body will thank you for it as you age.

It’s nearly impossible for me to be motivated to work out regularly.

I find it boring I guess. The only time I really find the motivation to work out is when I haven’t jerked off for a week or more. I assume it’s the testosterone boost. So I should probably do that.
