So, I guess this subject would go here.

It’s the summer and only one summer school class to teach as opposed to the regular full load during the normal school semester, so I rented the Batman v. Superman movie. It’s very clear in the movie that Batman and Superman are from different ends of the philosophy spectrum of Red pill and Blue pill. It’s very annoying, too, and says some things about our society.

Surprisingly, or not so surprisingly, Supes is very blue pill. He appears out of nowhere at several point to save Lois Lane who should have known better to be where she was. He is always the calvary that comes in the nick of time to help people who should have known better. In some ways that’s good because there are idiots in real life who do things that they should have known not to do and later feel buyer’s remorse, such as “Mattress Girl”, Emma Sukowitz or whatever her name is. Lois keeps using his affections for her and counting on his coming to rescue her to just further her career. At the beginning she is is a fictional African desert nation talking with what appears to be a warlord to get a scoop on the story. The photographer traveling with her is revealed to be undercover CIA. He is found out and shot. She is then taken hostage and held at gunpoint and just minutes later Supes shows up and offs the bad guys. She knew he would come to her rescue. She is simply using him.

As the movie unfolds it appears Superman and Lois are shacked up. Clark comes in with a bag of groceries and flowers for her while she’s bathing. Why couldn’t she have done the shopping? People are always shown catering to Lois throughout the movie in way or another. The Daily Planet editor Perry White gives her whatever she wants for some misguided notion that she is right and knows what is best. He gets her a helicopter later in the move at her whim to take her somewhere. She wants to go somewhere to purse a lead on the story, He allows her to and gives her a seat and tickets with little fight and no questions. She might try to do something in the movie such as help Superman get the Kryptonite spear to fight Darkseed, but always messes up and others have to come bail her out, but then The movie’s feminist slant always tries to make her look like the poor unfortunate victim. And of course, what does she get at the end of the movie even though he has passed away killing Darkseed? A ring to get married to Supes. She’s got to have that insurance and beta bux.

From the perspective of most of us here, Batman and the character are probably more appealing. Superman, by virtue of his being from another planet, is defaulted with super powers and can take them for granted. Even later in the movie he is nuked in space but still lives. Wayne, though, is independent. He has dealt with his parents’ tragic death early in life that he personally witnessed and as a result is strong, although dark and brooding and maybe moody and intense. When he makes up his mind to go after Superman you can see the extremity and intensity of his personality when talking to the butler, Alfred. Though he has now super powers by default, he will take on the challenge with all the cunning, bravery, and chutzpah he can muster. In the end he could have offed Superman but didn’t. Again, it was a woman who had to save him. Clark Kent probably wants a condo and wants to work and support a wife and a trio of kids who take him for granted. Bruce Wayne is under no such illusions. You see only briefly a woman in his bed when he wakes up in the morning and she is gone. Women don’t cloud his life and judgement and he doesn’t let hormones get in his way. He is not influenced by Diana Prince’s (Wonder Woman’s) good looks and doesn’t let her get away with any bullcrap. Superman or Clark Kent would almost surely and then buy more flowers and take her to dinner as well. Wayne has no judgment that is impaired by some t~~~. While Superman goes shopping and brings home flowers and dinner, Bruce Wayne live’s a single man’s rough and tough life and goes to what appears to be an underground, or at least amatuer, MMA fight out by the docks where bets are clearly wagered. When the fighter he likes feels like he is going to lose and can’t keep going, Wayne urges him on and pushes him back into the ring whereupon he KO’s the other fighter with a few punches. He knew the other guy was at his breaking point already because he had already been in so many fights himself and the other fighter just needed another punch or two to put him away.

Bruce Wayne/Batman uses his detective instincts, guts, and fortune to achieve his mission that he has apparently set for himself years earlier: To wipe out and nail bad guys even if he has to go around the law at times, laws which are set up to benefit the guilty and at times encourage criminals even more because the same laws have no teeth. Superman, ever the white knight would always be there to save those that are weaker and would follow the letter of the law. Perhaps instead of always saving people from their stupidity he should let them get themselves out of their own problems they made.

So what do you guys think? I like Batman more, and his darkness and moodiness remind me of myself more at times. In our modern society we have too many guys who try to follow the path of Superman, who is very blue pillish–and yes, he wears blue, you should remember– and save silly air heads like Lois Lane instead of letting them grow up.

I’ll end my little essay and say that sadly, I have seen the trailer for the next Justice League movie and say that Wayne and Prince are working together now. This may not bode well for the franchise. Time will tell. Have a good day men.

I agree with your sentiments, Bruce Wayne/ Batman are totally MGTOW’s too.

“You aren’t brave. Men are brave.”

-Batman to Superman; best quote of the movie. It doesn’t take courage to do what Superman does. he’s indestructible. It take courage to do what Batman does.

Lets ponder the Lois Lane / Superman relationship. Larry Niven wrote an article on it. It was probably the most disturbing yet funny thing I have read.

The writers of Superman took that into account when they had Superman hook up with Wonder Woman. Lets face it after reading what would happen to Lois Lane. Only Wonder Woman would be durable enough.

How durable? Well considering WW is having a bit of afterglow here. I would say rather durable.

I actually really enjoyed the film from start to finish. I thought it would be crap from the bad reviews but I enjoyed it and it made a change from the cartoon Marvel films to have a dark and depressing film (that is why everyone slagged it off but it was the big plus for me).

Loved the new darker Batman who basically doesn’t give a f~~~ anymore and kicks the absolute crap out of everyone and goes round branding people that leads to them getting killed in prison…loved it

has a really great soundtrack that no one seems to notice
