A stupid man learns from his mistakes, a wise man learns from the mistakes of others.
And now, thanks to the internet and thanks to men like May 7th who care enough about their fellow man to share their stories, it’s even easier to learn from the mistakes of others.
I’ll admit it, luck played a part when I didn’t marry in my 20s and I when I didn’t knock some c~~~ up. Luck played a part, mind you, I made conscious decisions too.
It was luck that assigned me to a ship which went on a long cruise while shifting home ports from the East coast to the West. It was luck when that cruise helped cause number of nasty divorces in my division too. However, I chose to heed the warnings around me and I chose not to marry while on active duty, something too many of my shipmates chose not to do.
During the same period I f~~~ed women without protection, but only a handful of times. While i was lucky that the dice never came up seven, I also chose not to roll them that often.
I wasn’t any smarter than my shipmates were, just more aware and less likely to tempt luck.
Later in my 30s, I was lucky that my job as a field engineer kept me traveling constantly and with little notice. Women don’t like it when you’re not under their thumb and my travel job gave them excuses not to get serious with me. However, I chose that job and I enjoyed that job so much that no woman I met ever tempted me to leave it.
Again, circumstance helped me but it was still my choice in the end.
By the time my 40s rolled around, I knew women for what they are. Now it would only take bad luck for me to fall into the control of one. When that bad luck occurred, when I had lost one career, when I was facing surgery and chemo, when no job prospects were on the horizon, when a woman targeted me like a cheetah targets a wounded gazelle, I still found enough mental fortitude to choose to extricate and save myself.
Too many of us bemoan fate and curse our luck. Fate cannot be denied, events will occur and we have no control over that. How we deal with fate and events is what truly matters.
While luck exists, it’s merely the confluence of preparation and opportunity. Are you prepared to respond to the events, good or ill, which fate creates for you? Or are you content to stumble along continually buffeted by events and your apathy towards yourself?
Women rely on the victim card. Men should strive for something better.
Every man here complaining about an ex-wife who is a satanic c~~~, about alimony and child support which leaves them living in a drain culvert and eating roadkill, about the physical arm and psychological horrors inflicted on them chose to put themselves in the situations which directly led to those results.
While mistakes are how we learn, you first have to admit you’ve made mistakes to begin learning.
Do not date. Do not impregnate. Do not co-habitate. Above all, do not marry. Reclaim and never again surrender your personal sovereignty.
