Good observation. I haven’t thought of it quite like that before.

I have always seen the “Real man” observation as an oblique insult to a man and an oblique self affirmation to a woman.

Example.

A real man takes care of his family. This implies that the man is not taking care of his family and the woman is.

It used to bother me, but now I’m amused by it. It’s up to you to remind any t~~~ who implies that you’re “not a real man” is actually objectifying you. This actually happened with a woman who asked me to hold her purse with about a dozen other people standing around. I just told her “no” and she can set it on the bench. Kept my hands in my pockets and maintained a confident smile on my face. She f~~~ing HATED that. Think about that for a second. I’m “not a real man” because I refused to hold her purse. She actually tried to tell me a “real man would hold my purse”, but only a fool would listen to her and oblige. It’s nothing but a s~~~ test and you FAIL if you do it.

That attempt to tell a man he’s “not a real man” never say well with me. What a STUPID thing to say – especially from a woman — until I realized what it really meant when a woman says it. Then it became HILARIOUS. I have actually said “no” to a woman and in response, she actually tried to tell me how big (or small) my dick is. Like from across the internet. A woman tries that “you’re not a real man” and “you’re probably hung like a gerbil” about a man she never met and has never known – who never even treated her badly. You don’t know the color of my socks, or my car. How arrogant does a woman have to be in order to tell YOU what qualifies you as a man??

Also the other day there was this debate on our local tv channel about expectation of modern women in men.. every women in the panel gave their long list of things (like dressing style, hair, body size, walking posture, job, etc.. ) a guy should do or have to impress them. If you have read any of my other posts I have written about this, we all know what I am about to say;

I have been in and out of two warzones since 2004. I have p~~~ed standing up ever since I could walk. I have been in both the Regular US Army and the National Guard. I am currently in a position most people would have already broken under and no woman has lasted more than three months doing… poorly. If ever you tell me what a man would do in any situation, I better have memories of me looking over my shoulder and you are standing there with tools in hand. If not, the manliest thing anyone can do any situation I am currently in is whatever the hell I am doing.

Now. As far as everyone else here on this forum, do not let anyone else ever tell you what a man should do. I am not you. I do not know all the struggles you are going through. The best thing you could do is whatever you do. There may be things you do others and I do not agree with. However, the only person you have to live through every day of your life is you. If you can live with yourself with what you do, then do it.
