Lets see, Canadian soldiers are third in casualties for coalition forces in Afghanistan, despite many other more populous countries participating.

S~~~ting on Canadian soldiers is what you guys got out of this topic?

    F~~~ing sad.

I suggest you go back and re-read this thread.

Nobody is s~~~ting on Canadian soldiers except their own political leadership.

The difficulties with the Armed Forces go back to the early days of Pierre Trudeau.  (Yeah, I know about the Arrow.)  It was under him that its numbers were significantly reduced and things went downhill from there.

Not just the armed forces. A whole lot of things started going downhill with Trudeau.

Of course you can’t blame Canadians for that. Just some of them. I’m sure the Canadians here know the ones I mean.

@ QVW….can’t say as I remember the Golden Hawks or Red Knights…don’t know how I missed them…and we had 2 channels! lol    @ Sidecar you’re right…the government s~~~s on our soldiers when they should be kissing their asses….I guess that will only happen when there is actually danger to themselves    as in WW2.

Indeed.  Canada’s high point was its centennial year of 1967.  In 1968, Pierre Trudeau became prime minister.  Things went to hell in this country after that.

    Dagigisup:

The Golden Hawks were the old RCAF aerobatics team and they got their name from the gold-coloured F-86 Sabres they flew.  I can’t remember why they were disbanded, though I seem to remember it was some time during the mid-’60s.

As for the Red Knights, they were solo aerobatic pilots and flew a red and black T-33.  Unfortunately, that job had a high fatality rate and, after losing several of them in rapid succession, the program was finally ended.
